Chapter 135: Pick Up Mrs. Augustine

Bounty pursed her lips. “No need. I was afraid you were busy.”

Elvis raised a slender finger and unbuttoned his suit. His handsome face remained indifferent. Mr. Henry, the butler, respectfully offered Elvis a warm, damp handkerchief. Elvis exuded the aura of a powerful business magnate.

Bounty, too, was no ordinary woman. She hadn't forgotten her past misfortune, hence her initial dislike of Elvis as a nephew. However, she couldn't deny his inheritance of the Augustine family's business acumen.

As the eldest son, Elvis had used a substantial gift from his grandmother to establish several successful oil businesses. Within months, they flourished, yielding massive profits. Seeing Elvis's aptitude, his father entrusted him with several challenging projects, which Elvis managed flawlessly, quickly becoming a business prodigy. Bounty remembered that he'd built his empire independently, without family assistance.

Elvis closely resembled his father, a business emperor. He inherited not only his father's business skills but also his handsome features and calm, composed demeanor. He wiped his hands, narrowed his eyes, and regarded Bounty.

“I'm never too busy for my aunt. I hope you'll stay in L.A. for a while. I'll have my secretary clear my schedule, and show you around.”

Bounty quickly shook her head. “Elvis, don't bother. I'm here for a reason, and your brother is also in L.A.”

Elvis furrowed his brows. “Marvin is in L.A.?”

“Yes, I've called him. He's late. Kids these days. Let me call him again.” As she spoke of Marvin, love shone in her eyes—a contrast to her demeanor with Elvis.

Bounty reached for her phone, but the villa door opened, revealing Marvin.

Bounty's eyes lit up. “Marvin, you're late! Come here.” She opened her arms. Marvin embraced her, then quickly disengaged.

“Marvin, greet Grandma.”

The Augustine brothers, Elvis and Marvin, were both proud and talented, possessing cold, commanding auras. Marvin approached Mrs. Augustine, his gaze shifting from her to Elvis. “Grandma, Brother.”

Elvis said gently, “When did you arrive? Why didn't you visit?”

Bounty interjected, “He just arrived and will return to Canada soon.”

Mrs. Samantha smiled. “Everyone, settle down. Let's chat.” Bounty and Marvin sat. Bounty broke the silence. “Elvis, Marvin is of marrying age, but…uninterested. My sister-in-law is anxious. I know a talented doctor, and I'm throwing a party for them to meet. I think they'd be perfect!”

Old Mrs. Samantha, having orchestrated Olive's marriage to Elvis instead of Marvin, brightened at the news. “That's wonderful, Bounty! You have excellent judgment. I'm sure she'll be a perfect match for Marvin!”

“This doctor is extraordinary. She entered a top medical college at thirteen, earned a double master's degree at fifteen, setting a record. I invited her to Holy Nile Academy, but she declined—she didn't want to be far from home. She's brilliant and has a wonderful character.”

“Amazing! She sounds perfect. I won't attend the party. Elvis, please go in my stead and report back.” Mrs. Samantha said happily, her true feelings—indifference to the woman's identity as long as it wasn't Olive—unstated. She hadn't felt she'd stolen Marvin's bride; Olive's mother had originally intended the engagement for Elvis. Still, she worried; she protected Olive's background to avoid family conflict. She trusted Bounty to make the right choices for Marvin.

Elvis nodded. “Grandma, I'll attend and report back.”

“Thank you, dear.”

Elvis glanced at his watch. “Aunt, Marvin, you can stay for dinner. I must go.”

“Elvis, where are you going so late?” Bounty asked.

“To pick up my wife. She’s waiting.”

Marvin, silent until then, looked up at Elvis’s words.

“Elvis, I heard you're married, and your bride only graduated high school,” Bounty frowned, clearly disapproving.

“She’s recently from an orphanage; she lacks experience with the world.”

Old Mrs. Samantha waved a hand. “Bounty, what is love, my dear? You simply don't understand, do you?”
