Chapter 146: Olive's Poison Test

Director Hudson regarded Pamela with admiration. A strict man, Hudson favored only the best students. "Pamela," he said, "I didn't expect you to master the ancient acupuncture method. You saved Mrs. Robert; I'll remember this. Continue working hard; I'm optimistic about your future."

The clinic staff swiftly moved the old woman to a wheelchair and transported her to the VIP observation room. "Pamela, you sealed acupuncture points with a golden needle! You're amazing, so talented!" The students showered her with praise. "This achievement will raise our school's standards!"

Pamela swelled with pride. She felt she had won a great prize, certain the director would publicize her accomplishment, propelling her to the pinnacle of her career. She basked in the compliments when a slender figure approached—Olive, returned from her errand. Olive hadn't been able to fetch the water; upon her return, she found a crowd gathered, the old woman gone.

"Here you are! I just saved an old lady!"

Olive was dumbfounded, quickly realizing Pamela had taken credit for her actions. The old lady had been sent to intensive care. Olive felt a wave of relief. She looked at Pamela and pursed her lips.

"Pamela, aren't you amazing? What did you do?"

"I used a gold needle to seal the acupuncture points!"

Seeing Pamela's smug expression, Olive laughed. A student shouted, "Olive, you only graduated from high school! You wouldn't know about golden needles!"

"They're made of pure gold, very soft, and few in the medical community can control them," another explained. "Gold acupuncture is an ancient, mysterious, and dangerous technique."

Pamela watched, anticipating Olive's shame, but Olive's laughter surprised everyone. They concluded she was crazy. Pamela's expression hardened. "Olive, what's so funny?"

Olive, still laughing, finally said, "I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. You should be applauded, Pamela! I applaud your selfless service." She clapped sarcastically.

Pamela clenched her fists, frustrated that her attempt to provoke Olive had backfired. "Olive, are you jealous?"

Olive withdrew, saying, "I'm sorry, I have to go. You all continue." She promptly left. Pamela, furious, felt helpless.

"Pamela, she's weird. Ignore her," a student consoled. "Just wait, the whole world will praise you!"

Pamela's mood improved. She glared at the direction Olive had gone.

Olive returned to the pharmacy, where Divine rushed in. "Olive, this isn't good!"

"What's wrong?"

"Pamela saved an old lady! She sealed an acupuncture point with a gold needle!"

Olive remained unfazed. "Oh, really?"

Divine's unease grew. "Olive, that's a huge achievement! Even the dean can't do that!"

Olive calmly gathered herbs. "Divine, I understand. You don't need to be so loud."

"But why are you so calm? She's the first in LA! Director Hudson's planning a commendation ceremony; reporters are lining up to interview her; the institute is planning a live stream!"

"Oh," Olive murmured.

Divine stomped her foot. "How could Pamela be so powerful? I'm afraid even my grandfather..."

Olive remained unmoved. While the school buzzed, Pamela's commendation party was underway. That evening, Olive smiled, having successfully extracted the mandala flower poison—a bright, intensely toxic substance. She reached for it, but a long, fair hand grasped her wrist.
