Chapter 194: Her Sweetheart
Olive opened the door and greeted the doctor with a broad smile. "Welcome, Doctor."
The doctor looked at Olive strangely, unsure what amused her. "Thank you," he replied, entering the room.
Olive stepped outside, where a familiar figure approachedโBounty. Their last meeting had been at the Starzeal Hotel, a parting without farewell. Olive wasn't privy to Bounty and Elvis's previous conversation, but she sensed it hadn't been pleasant.
"Aunt, why are you here? To see Mr. Augustine?" Olive asked as Bounty reached her.
Bounty smiled faintly. "I heard Elvis was in an accident. But I'm here to see you."
Olive glanced at Elvis's ward. "Aunt, I'm not interested in Elvis's past, if that's what you're here for."
"No, I want to speak to you about Elvis's car accident."
"Oh? What about it, Aunt?" Olive whispered.
Bounty handed her a document. "Olive, take a look. Elvis was returning from the Ivory Council when the accident occurred."
Olive examined the file, containing road surveillance images from Elvis's arrival at the Ivory Council to the accident. She shivered. Elvis hadn't been at the company. Why hadn't he told her?
"Olive, you must be aware of Elvis's illness. It's clear now. Seeing you and Marvin together unleashed the monster within him. He drove angrily, unable to control his emotions, causing the accident," Bounty explained calmly.
Olive looked up. "Aunt, even if this is true, what do you want me to do?"
Bounty shook her head incredulously. "Olive, aren't you afraid of him? He could lose his temper at any time!"
Olive scoffed. "I'm not afraid of him. Instead, I feel guilty and distressed. Mr. Augustine lied about being at the company; he was at the Ivory Council to see me. He had an accident because of me. I need to be more mindful of my actions and keep a safe distance from Marvin and other men."
"Thanks for your love and concern, Aunt. I don't know what you're trying to do, but it seems like you have malicious plans against Mr. Augustine. Elvis is my sweetheart; don't try to hurt him!"
Olive tossed the file in the trash and walked away. Bounty was speechless, unprepared for this reaction. Olive wasn't afraid of Elvis at all.
Bounty clenched her fists, staring at Olive's back. "Olive, it's useless. Your love can't save him!"
Olive stopped.
Bounty continued, "Olive, you know better than anyone how terrifying Elvis is. He has an insane desire to control you. No matter how hard he tries, he can't stand your contact with the outside world. Your love only feeds his ego, making him more domineering. The slightest issue, and he'll suspect and mistreat you. Elvis is more ruthless than you think. He's extremely violent. Last night, he was ready to kill himself without hesitation. Olive, do you know there's a devil living beside you? I know you're in love and blinded by it, but you should know how he became this way. Tomorrow at eight, meet me at Westside Cafe down the street."
Bounty left elegantly, but Olive remained motionless.
Elvis worked on documents in the ward. Andrew arrived, briefing him on important company matters. Once Andrew left, Olive returned.
"Mrs. Augustine, where have you been? Why so long?"
Olive looked up at Elvis, leaning against the wall with a book. "Sorry, I was on a call with Divine."
Elvis looked up from his book, grabbed her arm, and pulled her onto his lap. "Mr. Augustine, what are you doing? You have wounds."
Elvis hugged her tightly. His eyes fell on her face. "Mrs. Augustine, when did you learn to lie?"
Olive's heart pounded. Did he know something?
Seeing her panic, Elvis smiled. "Are you afraid of sitting on my lap because of my injuries, or are you scared I'll continue what I started earlier?"
Olive glared. "President Augustine, why do you have a book?" she hastily changed the subject.
"Call me President Augustine again, and I'll treat you like a bad boss would treat a sexy employee."
Olive covered her collarbone. "President Augustine, don't mess around, I have a husband."
"You flouted my order!" Elvis tickled her. Olive giggled, pleading for mercy. "Mr. Augustine, I'm sorry, I was wrong. Please spare me."
Westside Cafe. Bounty sat by the window. Soon, Olive arrived. Bounty wasn't surprised; she knew Olive would come.
