Chapter 228: Beautiful Little Blind
โNorth, whatโs the relationship like between Alpha Augustine and Lily?โ Olive finally asked.
โWell, theyโve always been an admired couple in Imperial. Alpha hasnโt had any scandals in recent years and maintains a very private life,โ North responded. โHowever, Lily, the founder of Fly Jewelries, is undeniably gorgeous. Historically, she was pursued by many men; countless wealthy and powerful young men sought her hand in marriage.โ North paused, considering. โStill,โ she said, looking at Lilyโs picture in the magazine and shaking her head, โI think the rumors are exaggerated. Lily is beautiful, but I canโt say for certain if she married Alpha for his wealth. Many find herโฆquestionable.โ
North, a well-informed woman, always had the latest information and never speculated.
Olive smiled. She knew Anabelle was the true queen, not Lily, but decided not to correct North.
North took Oliveโs hands. โOlive, your hands are so cold! This is the first time Iโve seen you so interested in a jewelry brand.โ
Olive looked at North. โNorth, I have something to tell you.โ
โWhat is it? Tell me.โ
โElvis is from Imperial City. His surname may be the one you just mentioned. Alpha Augustine is Elvisโs father.โ
North gasped, staring at Olive in disbelief. โOlive, are you saying Elvis is the crown prince of the Augustine family in Imperial?โ
โYes.โ
North abruptly released Oliveโs hands. โOlive, do you know the Augustine family is the center of wealth and power in Imperial? Elvis will one day inherit their vast business empire. He's the crown prince, and you were the crown princess!โ North exclaimed, the realization hitting her hard.
Olive hadn't intentionally investigated the Augustine family. She only grasped their power from North's words. Regardless of their immense wealth, Imperial remained a cold and resentful place for Elvis. Heโd lived in Los Angeles with his grandmother for years, never mentioning his father.
โNorth, Elvis and I are divorced. Even if he returns to Imperial to inherit his fatherโs business, it has nothing to do with me,โ Olive calmly reminded her.
โThatโs true, but we still missed out on billions of dollars!โ North retorted angrily.
Olive chuckled at Northโs reaction. She pulled North close. โNorth, itโs his business. Letโs talk about you. You want to go to Imperialโwonโt Raven object?โ
At the mention of Raven, the smile vanished from Northโs face. โHe probably wonโt approve, but Iโll find a way to deal with him,โ she said confidently.
โLet me know if you need help.โ
โOlive, take care of yourself. Donโt worry about me,โ North added emphatically.
โYes, maโam,โ Olive replied, hugging North tighter.
After North left, Olive lay on her bed, unable to sleep. Elvisโs face kept appearing in her mind. When busy, she didnโt think of him, but in her free time, all she thought about was Elvis. The ache in her heart persisted; she longed for the pain to cease.
It was the first time Olive had considered Elvisโs father and stepmother. She wondered if he would return to Imperial and inherit the Augustine empire. She knew Imperial held only pain and sadness for him. As a child, he was viewed as an outcast among other privileged children.
Olive also thought of Elvisโs biological mother, Anabelle, who lived in her sister's shadow, never able to claim her own identity. Olive worried about Elvisโs health, wondering if his insomnia and mental illness had improved.
Olive tossed and turned, eventually sitting up and grabbing a medical book, searching for information on his condition. Disappointed to find nothing, she flipped to the last page. Her eyelashes fluttered; she saw a method for treating poison. She reread the paragraph repeatedly, finally falling asleep on the book.
She woke late the next day, having slept late. As planned, she went for a walk. Halfway through, her vision went dark; she was blind again. However, unlike before, she remained calm and composed. She walked through the familiar city, her mind filled with childhood memories.
Chapter 229: Beautiful Little Blind (This seems to be a misnumbered chapter, likely a continuation of Chapter 228)
Suddenly, some boys passed, their gazes fixed on Olive.
โLook, that girlโs blind.โ โWow, a beautiful blind girl!โ They whispered, whistling at her.
They froze, noticing a man following Olive. Elvis, in a simple black shirt and trousers, his gaze sharp, fell upon them. The boys, startled, fled.
Elvis indifferently shifted his gaze to Oliveโs slender figure in her white dress, her black hair dancing in the wind. She was as beautiful as the morning sun.
