Chapter 275
She called him in her dreamโMr. Augustine! Elvis initially intended only a mild threat to settle her, but he hadn't anticipated her spirited retort. Her small mouth was surprisinglyโฆ dangerous. He glanced at her red lips, frowned, and said in a deep voice, "Want to die?"
"Others are afraid of you, but I'm not!" Olive glared defiantly. "If you dare bully me, I'll have my grandma teach you a lesson!"
"You!" He sputtered, "Who are you? How dare you bully me?" Olive, surprisingly bold, stood on tiptoe, her slender body practically challenging his height, her face inches from his. Their proximity was almost aggressive. The memory of his last night's kiss, while she slept, flashed in his mind. Elvis's throat tightened. "Get away from me!" he rasped, turning to leave.
Olive watched his retreating back. He wanted to avoid her. He truly hated her, it seemed.
Later, at breakfast, the old lady ate half a bowl of millet porridgeโOlive carefully monitoring her intake. After acupuncture, she would gradually increase the amount, allowing her grandmother's body to recover slowly.
Once the old lady was settled, Olive gathered her bag. "Grandma, Betty, I'll go. I'll be back early tonight."
"Elvis, Elvis, you're not working today. Could you give Olive a ride?" the old lady asked.
Though in a good mood after breakfast, Olive refused. "No need, Grandma. Mr. Augustine is tooโฆ prominent. A ride with him would create a scandal. I'll go myself. Bye."
Olive left for school. Elvis's face darkened. He wanted her to calm down, to stop provoking him, yet her refusal of his offer and her evident concern about scandal left him feeling suffocated.
"Grandma, I'm going too." Elvis grabbed his car keys and left. The Rolls-Royce Phantom sped towards the bustling streets. Elvis, peering through the polished window, subconsciously searched for her. He found her immediately. But she wasn't alone. Noah White stood beside her, offering a large bouquet of roses. Elvis's eyes narrowed. He accelerated, the Phantom racing past them.
Chapter 276
Olive was on her way to school when Noah appeared, bearing a large bouquet of red roses. "Noah, I've made it clear. We're finished. I don't like you. Please don't waste your time."
Noah, captivated by Olive's face, persisted. "Olive, I've said I'll pursue you. Sooner or laterโฆ" He didn't finish. Elvis's Phantom roared past, throwing dust in Noah's face.
Noah choked and coughed, thoroughly humiliated. "Whoโฆ who would drive like that?" he sputtered angrily.
Olive recognized the car immediatelyโElvis's. Why was he driving so recklessly? She found Noah's dejected expression rather amusing.
Tomorrow was the basketball game. Today was Olive and Alicia's final dance rehearsal. Their coach sent them home early to rest.
Olive returned to the villa. It was dark, and Elvis was still out. Later, two headlights illuminated the lawn. Betty opened the door. "Young Master, you're back?"
Elvis removed his coat, handing it to Betty. "Where's Grandma?" he asked quietly.
"Asleep."
Upstairs, Elvis found his grandmother asleep, with Olive beside her. The girl slept soundly on her stomach, her slender arms tucked under her head. Her face was soft, a few strands of hair falling across her cheek.
"Young Master, Olive gave Grandma two injections last night. She stayed to watch over her and then fell asleep. Please don't wake her; she's been very tired lately. Please help me move her to her room," Betty whispered.
Elvis picked her up; she was remarkably light. He thought of the phrase "boneless." Gently, he placed her on the guest room bed. She nestled into the pillows, resuming her sleep. She resembled his kitten, Phoebe. Then, a soft voice reached him: "Mr. Augustineโฆ" She had called him in her sleep. A shiver ran down his spine. He touched her face, a slight amusement playing on his lips. "What are you calling me for? Dreaming of me?โฆ Aren't you seducing me?" His gaze fell on her lips, his fingertip brushing against themโฆ
