Chapter 403: The Wedding

Jean looked at Olive. She was waiting for him at the underground scientific research base! This was a clever trap! Today was Marvin and Charlotte's wedding day; she had intentionally leaked news of the black nanny car to lure him. Jean turned to leave, but at that moment, with a "boom," the base's large door slammed shut, trapping everyone inside.

"Master Paulo, what's happening? I feel like Olive is setting a trap," his subordinates said anxiously. Jean pursed his lips. Olive's clear voice came from behind, "Jean, where are you going? I finally got you here. I won't let you leave so easily."

Jean turned. Olive's scorpion-like blue eyes fell on his face. "Did you intentionally appear at the hospital?"

Olive, in a black coat unzipped to reveal her translucent white skin, smiled, her red lips a stark contrast to her white teeth. "Yes." She produced a fileโ€”Jean's complete adult profile. "Days ago, I formed an emergency research group to study your extreme personality. Your aptitude for poisons manifested early. Your grandfather dedicated himself to you. While other children played, you locked yourself in the laboratory, conducting experiments. You're indifferent to human emotions, tending toward autism. Your personality is extremely dark, pathological."

Closing the file, Olive looked at Jean with clear eyes. "People like you are hardest to provoke. I disappeared, and you searched for days. Showing myself at the hospital ensured you'd follow. I revealed the black nanny car information at the opportune moment, conveniently inviting you here."

Jean's expression changed. He looked at Olive darkly. "You executed this flawlessly, but you must have substantial support, many collaborators. Olive, who are you?"

Olive's eyes flashed sharply. "Who am I? You'll soon find out."

"What are your plans?" Jean asked.

"Can't you guess? The Augustine and Paulo families' weddingโ€”it should be quite exciting. I won't keep you. I'm going to the wedding."

Jean watched Olive go. He guessed correctly. Her goal was the wedding. She knew Marvin was poisoned; she wanted to save him! Public opinion was a weapon against her. Showing herself would be risky. How daring to go to the wedding alone! This would be interesting.

Jean remained calm, sitting down. "Olive," he murmured, "it's useless. You can't save Marvin."

Chapter 400: The Wedding

Olive didn't stop, but turned, smiled at Jean, and said, "Master Paulo, relax. I'll have others entertain you shortly. If nobody else does, I'll teach you a lesson on behalf of your grandfather." Jean watched her beautiful figure disappear.

Marvin and Charlotte's wedding was held at the mansion. Imperial's upper-class nobles were present, smiling and chatting. The bride, Charlotte, wore a custom white dress, light makeup, and a tiara. Beside her stood Lily, her mother-in-law.

Charlotte, aware of Lily's initial dislike, had become more polite after wedding preparations. "Mom," she said, "I'm marrying Marvin today. I love him deeply and will cherish him. We'll be a family, and I'll respect you wholeheartedly."

Charlotte had always given Lily gifts, increasing their frequency recently. Though Lily didn't need them, it showed Charlotte's devotion. Lily had initially wanted Marvin to marry Joyce Brown's daughter, but then discovered Olive was that daughterโ€”tolerable despite her dislike. Olive's subsequent scandals and betrayal of Marvin had broken the mother-daughter bond. Lily feared Olive would ruin her son. With Alpha's agreement to the marriage, she reluctantly accepted Charlotte.

Lily looked at Charlotte with a mother-in-law's scrutiny. "Charlotte, you're no longer a Paulo, but Marvin's wife. Will you prioritize him?"

Charlotte nodded quickly, bowing her head. "Yes, Mom, I understand."

Lily nodded in satisfaction. Nora and Crystal arrived. Crystal asked, "Mom, where's Dad?"

Crystal's mood was excellent. Her wrist wound healed, and her father, Damien, had returned! The richest man in the world, his arrival drew admiring ladies. Crystal knew her father was her greatest asset. She feared no one.

Nora glared. "Crystal, where's your father?"

Damien and Alpha stood talking in a dimly lit area, surrounded by Imperial's most powerful figures. These two Imperial sons were like revered emperors.

Crystal smiled. Her father was her greatest pride. Taking Nora's hand, she said, "Let's go to Daddy."

Nora, elegantly dressed, whispered, "Crystal, your father's divorcing me. Convince him to reconcile."

Crystal nodded vigorously. "Mom, leave it to me."
