Chapter 420: Is Olive His Mrs. Augustine?
He said he liked her. Heโs no longer Mr. Augustine; heโs Elvis now, but he still loves herโfor the second time. And she loves him. She missed Mr. Augustine terribly. Although she constantly reminded herself that Mr. Augustine was gone and only Elvis stood before her, her love remained. Amnesiac Elvis is more ruthless than before, capable of breaking her heart, yet heโs always the first to rush to her aid. When those men accosted her, he crazily crashed his luxury car into theirs, paralyzing his right arm. When she fell into the pool and nearly drowned, he jumped in, performed CPR, and would have continued indefinitely had she not awakened. When she entered the forbidden area, facing a pack of wolves, he embraced her, vowing to die with her. He refused to let those men take her, but the instant a wolf lunged, he shoved her away, screaming, โOlive, run! Donโt come back!โ
After losing his memory, Elvis became even more endearing. Sometimes, he was a tsundere civil servant, needing her coaxing and pampering. If she attracted another manโs attention, heโd erupt in anger, doing anything to reclaim her focus. Naturally, his amnesia also amplified his domineering nature, as evidenced by his current declaration at her door: โOlive, donโt hesitate. From now on, Iโm your world.โ How could she not be moved? How could she not love him? She fell in love with Elvis.
Oliveโs red lips curled, tears welling in her eyes. โIโฆ I canโt answer you now. I need time to think.โ
Elvis at the door nodded, โOkay.โ
He entered his office, where Peterson and Ray awaited.
Peterson said quietly, โYoung Master, I still havenโt uncovered Miss Hartโs past. The only certainty is that her past was erased by your father. Heโs always in Imperial; how could he suddenly appear in Los Angeles to erase Miss Hartโs past? It makes no sense.โ
Ray, still pensive, asked, โYoung Master, you were also in Los Angeles then. Did you notice your fatherโs actions? Do you have any recollection?โ His gaze was intense, conveying, โYoung Master, youโre incompetent!โ
Peterson quickly nudged Ray, his eyes conveying a warning. โCough, watch your attitude! The Young Master is our God. Show some respect!โ
Elvis stood tall by the French window, clad in a white shirt, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a cigarette. The smoke partially obscured his handsome face, but they saw his brows were tightly furrowed, betraying his inner turmoil. He remembered nothing of the conflict between his father, Alpha, and Olive.
Seven or eight years ago, heโd brought his grandmother to Los Angeles; those memories remained vivid. Later, when Alpha went to Los Angeles, they returned together to Imperial. These memories were unwavering, never questioned. It wasn't until he tasked Peterson and Ray with investigating Oliveโs ex-husband that he learned her past had been erased, by his father, Alpha. Only then did he realize heโd missed something. He reviewed everything.
Olive liked himโthat was her initial impression. Their first encounter was at the Bright Star gate. He was driving with Crystal; she clutched a few books, gazing at him until his car vanished from sight. As a man, he recognized her affection in her eyes. Their second meeting was at the Imperial bar, where his pet Phoebe, who avoids strangers, was willingly held in Oliveโs arms. Their third meeting occurred at his Red Villa. His grandmother, gravely ill after returning from Los Angeles, remained secluded in her room, until Olive became her personal chef.
Only then did Elvis grasp his error. Heโd assumed she was using her beauty to seduce him. Their first meeting, she fell into his arms; their third, she slept in his bedโall because of her beauty. Heโd wrongly categorized her among the many young women pursuing wealthy men, a common occurrence heโd read about in the news. He'd been prejudiced against her from the start, blinded by her beauty. Now he recognized a deeper connection. While secretly pleased by the idea of her seducing him, he hesitated. His perspective shifted. Why did his critically ill grandmother revive upon seeing Olive? Why did Phoebe, so wary of strangers, adore Olive? Even Betty cherished her. Everyone around him knew her, including his father! Why? The answer was clear: her ex-husband, her brief marriage, her past โ all connected to him!
If her ex-husband were him, everything would make sense. But if he was her ex-husband, why the memory loss? His grandmother, father, Betty, Mr. Henry, even his secretary Andrewโthey all knew, yet lied to him!
Elvis paused his smoking, slowly narrowing his eyes. In a deep voice, he said, โContact Dr. Kellerman.โ
Peterson hesitated. โYoung Master, why Dr. Kellerman?โ
Elvis tapped a cigarette into the ashtray, saying slowly, โI want hypnosis. To recover my lost memories.โ He needed to restore his memory, his and Olive's memories! To determine if he was Oliveโs ex-husband, if Olive was his Mrs. Augustine.
