Chapter 26
Oliveโs eyes met Elvisโs cold, serene gaze. Avoiding his stare, she murmured, โThank you for today.โ
Noticing her evasion, Elvis pursed his lips. โApart from โthank you,โ do you have something else to say?โ
Olive lightly bit her lip. Elvis raised a hand, his fingers landing on the button of her collar. Her eyes narrowed as she quickly grasped his large hand. โWhat do you intend to do?โ she asked vigilantly.
Elvis sneered. He buttoned the two loose buttons at her neckline. โWhat do you think? Make the car shake?โ
Sensing his aggression and bad mood, Olive felt a blush creep up her neck. Embarrassed, she began to retreat. โI want to go see Aunt Rebecca at the hospital,โ she said.
โWeโll be there soon,โ he replied.
Olive tried to stand, but his grip, strong as iron, held her fast. She fidgeted. Elvis frowned, tightening his hold on her wrist. Olive stilled, afraid to move.
The car sped along. Bright neon lights flooded the windows, illuminating Elvisโs handsome features.
Chapter 6
He felt a weight in his chest, turned to look at her, and asked, โRemember what I told you?โ
โWhat?โ
โIf you had problems you couldnโt solve, you should call me.โ
Olive clutched the hem of her dress. Certain things needed clarifying. โMr. Augustine, I remember. I admit I was reckless tonight. If you hadnโt arrived, the consequences are unpredictable, but I didnโt want to bother you with everything. After all, weโre only bound by a contract.โ
Elvisโs eyes darkened. โDo you really think so?โ
โYes,โ Olive nodded.
Elvis retracted his arm. โGet off my arm now!โ
Startled by his outburst, Olive quickly rose and moved away. Seeing her obedience, Elvis laughed angrily.
They drove in silence, arriving at the hospital half an hour later. Aunt Rebecca was already in a VIP ward, under the care of professional nurses. Olive knew Elvis had arranged it all; he was thoughtful, mature, and wise.
Aunt Rebecca remained in a coma, her condition serious. Olive sat by the bed, holding her auntโs cold hand, feeling immense sadness.
A soothing voice broke the silence. โEat something first.โ
Olive looked up to see Elvis, Harry, and Raven. Harry smiled, saying, โHello, sister-in-law.โ
Olive could only manage a weak smile. Uncle Henry entered with a plastic bag. โYoung mistress, young master asked me to prepare rice and soup. To care for a patient, you must first care for yourself.โ
Olive hadnโt eaten all night. His thoughtfulness surprised her. She glanced at Elvis, who stood by the window, his black coat removed. Besides North, he was the only one who made her feel truly warm, yet she hesitated to fully open her heart, afraid of heartbreak. Approaching him, she said, โMr. Augustine, Iโll stay with Aunt Rebecca tonight. You should go home and rest.โ
Elvis turned, his gaze intense. โWhy didnโt you answer my call?โ
Olive hesitated, then quickly replied, โI didnโt see your call.โ
Chapter 16
โWhat about my messages? Didnโt you see those either?โ
Before Olive could answer, Harry poked his head in. โBro, youโre on social media now? You were against opening an account for you, and now youโre active just because of sister-in-law? You really prioritize women over your friends!โ
Elvis glared at Harry. โGet out!โ
Sensing the tense atmosphere, Mr. Henry quickly left, closing the door behind him.
Olive remained preoccupied with Harryโs words. โWas she the only one he messaged?โ
Elvis snatched her phone. โWhat are you doing with my phone? Give it back!โ Olive tiptoed, trying to retrieve it.
Elvis checked her messages. He saw his message; she had deliberately ignored it. โExplain yourself,โ he demanded, his gaze piercing.
โWhat explanation? Thereโs none. Yes, I saw it, and I didnโt reply.โ
Elvisโs handsome brows furrowed. He had rushed back only to hear that? Her slender body was close to his, the sweet scent of her perfume filling the air.
He forced a hoarse voice. โAre you flirting with me again?โ
Oliveโs eyes widened as she felt his heat. She recoiled, trying to distance herself. Elvis grasped her shoulder, pinning her against the wall, preventing her escape. โI came all this way, only to be treated so coldly. You did something wrong, and you dare to be unapologetic. I think you really need to clean up!โ
