Chapter 645: Charming Technique
When Molly heard this, her eyes lit up. After everything was arranged, Clara felt like a genius. It would be the ultimate torture for Elvis and Olive to be separated.
Clara felt a surge of heat, but her faith remained firm: Elvis. Even in the Royal Palace, she believed he could enter if he wished. A creaking sound announced the opening of the door, and light flooded the room.
Clara looked up. A tall figure emerged from the lightโElvis had arrived. Her eyes shone; his presence illuminated her world, her heart pounding wildly. Resisting the urge to speakโas Sadie, she had to remain silentโshe watched him approach.
Elvis saw Sadie, the girl who had once captivated him. โWhatโs wrong with her?โ he wondered. He knelt, his gaze falling on her flushed face. He asked softly, โWhereโs your master? Why are you alone? Whatโs wrong?โ
Clara gently took his hand, pressing it to her burning cheek. Elvis felt the intense heat. He frowned. โDid you eat something you shouldnโt have?โ
She heard the tenderness in his voice, a stark contrast to his usual indifference. Pretending to be weak, she nodded slowly, clinging to his hand, her hot face pressed against his palm.
Elvis was far from stupid; he was perceptive. Her actions were undeniably flirtatious. He recalled their kiss on the yacht; though heโd endured it then, heโd thought of her often since. He found himself strongly drawn to her.
Emboldened by his inaction, Clara reached up, grasping his shirt collar, and moved towards his lips. She intended to kiss him.
Elvis watched her approach, yet strangely, his heart remained calm. He smelled the rouge on her. Squinting, he saw her heavily made-up faceโit looked garish. He pushed her away.
Clara froze, blinking in confusion. Elvis himself didn't understand his reaction; it was as if Sadie wasn't the girl who stirred his heart.
A sound from the next room broke the silence. Alert, Elvis glanced towards the wall. Clara, knowing Olive and Liam were next door, feared Elvis would find Olive. She feigned weakness, falling into his arms.
He looked at her indifferently, then picked her up and carried her away. Clara, eyes closed, reveled in the moment, wishing it would last forever. Olive was with Liam, but Elvis held her, protected her. Clara felt victorious.
Passing the adjacent room, he saw the closed door. Clara stole a glance. "Goodbye, Olive," she whispered.
Meanwhile, Olive was with Liam. He asked, "Princess Olive, what game are you playing tonight?" Heโd seen her drink the coffee, yet she stood before him unharmed, much to his surprise.
Olive couldnโt explain. Meeting his gaze, she winked mysteriously. โI already gave you the answer; it's no longer interesting,โ she replied. Liam sensed a change in her demeanor.
He smiled. Two maids passed, their demon bells ringing pleasantly. Olive, recognizing the enchanting sound, her expression hardening, whispered, "King Liam, cover your ears!"
Liam, having already heard, stood still as Olive quickly covered his ears. The sound ceased.
"King Liam, your palace is compromised. Investigate all suspicious individuals immediately!" she said, removing her hands.
Liam instantly seized her hands. Olive's heart leaped. She looked up into his dark eyes; he was hypnotized. His gaze was intense, suggestive, as if he desired to undress her.
She stepped back, retrieving pepper spray from beneath her dress. She aimed it at his face. But Liam, a seasoned Greenland general, wasn't so easily subdued.
