Chapter 706: Brother, Youโre Too Late!
The hotel manager led Elvis to a room, saying, โNaomi is inside.โ A bodyguard kicked the door open.
Naomiโs hands and feet were bound. A fat man, a vicious smile on his face, whipped her. She was already weakened, her white dress stained crimson from numerous previous blows. The abuse continued. He swung the whip again, yelling, โNaomi, where were you last night? Are you cheating on me? If I donโt hit you daily, you wonโt learn!โ
A knock interrupted him. โWhoโs that?โ he demanded impatiently. He froze, seeing men at the door.
Elvis entered with a firm stride, his gaze fixed on the fat manโa local thug, usually fearless. But his confidence wavered. โWho are you? How did you get in here?โ he stammered.
Before he finished, bodyguards disarmed and restrained him. He protested, โLet me go! This is a human rights violation!โ
Elvis approached Naomi. She looked up, her eyes wide with tears. โMister, thank youโฆโ Peterson untied her. Weak, she fell towards Elvis, who caught her.
She cried, gazing at him, bewildered. โWhyโฆ do you seem familiar? Whatโs your name? Why do you always appear when I need help?โ
The fat man yelled, โNaomi! Iโm still here! Are you flirting with another man in front of me?โ
โSheโs my wife,โ Elvis said, frowning. โWeโre married. Donโt interfere.โ
Peterson snapped, โShut up! This is President Augustine!โ
Naomi gasped, staring at Elvis. โAugustineโฆ Augustineโฆโ She touched the necklace she wore, her fingertip tracing the engraved name. โAre youโฆ myโฆ big brother?โ she whispered.
Elvis looked at her tear-stained face, then nodded. โYes.โ
Naomiโs eyes widened in shock and confusion, tinged with sadness. โBigโฆ big brother, youโre finally here. You promised to pick me up, but Iโve waited years. Youโre lateโฆ so lateโฆโ
Elvis, his face impassive, removed his jacket, draping it over her, then held her close and carried her away.
โHey! Where are you taking my wife?!โ the fat man shouted.
Elvis carried Naomi from the room. She sobbed uncontrollably. Peterson opened the Rolls-Royceโs back door. Elvis placed Naomi inside, and the car sped away.
A woman watched from the roadsideโElvisโs aunt, Bounty, recently arrived from Greenland. She had once sponsored Naomi, a girl sheโd admired. But Naomiโs life had taken a dark turn; sheโd been sold to the thug. Bounty had come to rescue her.
Seeing Elvis with Naomi shocked her. She hadnโt expected this. She knew Elvis had triplets with Olive, a woman she greatly admired.
Observing Elvis embrace Naomi, Bounty was stunned. โDoes Olive know about this?โ she wondered.
She took a photo of them. Years ago, Annabelle had caused Bounty to fall down stairs while pregnant, resulting in a miscarriage and infertility. This made her sympathize deeply with Olive, who'd given Elvis three children.
Bounty felt betrayed. She intended to send the picture to Olive, but her phone rangโLily. Bounty favored Lily and her son, Marvin, over Annabelle.
Answering, she said, โHello, sister-in-law.โ
