Chapter 53: Olive Isn’t Your Daughter

With a bang, Patrick threw the divorce papers onto Monica's face, stinging her.

"What's this?" Monica looked down at the "Divorce Agreement." "Divorce? Patrick, you actually want to divorce me?" Disbelief and trembling seized her.

Patrick's face was grim. "Go outside and see what people are saying about me. I can't hold my head up anymore. Hart's Medical is on the verge of bankruptcy, and it's all because of you."

"All because of me?" Monica's anger flared. She snatched the papers, roaring, "Patrick, ask yourself how I helped you after our marriage, how much I gave to you, to this family!"

Patrick sneered. "Did I tell you to sleep with another man? Monica, you're a shameless bitch!"

Tears streamed down Monica's face. "Patrick, I used to be in entertainment. Having a benefactor is normal. Didn't you say you didn't mind my past? I let another man touch me to help you! Why don't you praise me for being virtuous and capable?" She sniffed, wiping her eyes with a bruised hand.

"Enough! Don't claim you did it all for me and my family. You did it for yourself. You wanted the matriarch's position at all costs…"

Monica laughed hysterically. "Patrick, you want to divorce me now because I'm useless to you. You think I don't know you've always loved Olive's mother, Trisha?"

Patrick clenched his fists at the mention of Trisha.

"Why can't I mention her? I want to mention her! You're a pitiful creature, Patrick. You loved Trisha deeply, but she didn't love you. Olive isn't your daughter, and you know it because Trisha never let you near her room," Monica spat. "How could someone as gorgeous as Trisha fall for you? The Hart family was just a temporary stop for her. Yet, you still think of her every second. After all these years, you still can't forget her!" She wiped away tears.

Patrick's eyes reddened. He closed them, fighting the urge to strangle her. "It's useless. Sign the papers."

He stormed out. Gabriella saw him and tugged his sleeve. He glared. "Look at you, spoiled and willful! You're a loser. Don't bother me."

Patrick started to leave, but saw Olive's slender figure in the hallway. She stood calmly. Their eyes met. Even through her mask, he sensed her breathtaking beauty.

His expression unreadable, he turned and left.

Gabriella entered and wept beside Monica. "Mom, is Dad divorcing you? How can he be so cruel? What are we going to do?"

Monica crumpled the divorce papers. She wouldn't relinquish her position in the Hart family; she wouldn't be penniless.

Footsteps sounded. Gabriella cried out, "Dad, did you change your mind?" But it was Olive, not Patrick.

Monica's eyes burned with hatred. "What are you doing here?"

Olive sat, poured tea, and smiled faintly. "Of course I came to see you. Why else?"

"Olive, I'm going to kill you!" Monica threatened, tugging at the sheet. Her bruised body ached with the effort.

Olive met her gaze. "You said you wouldn't fall as long as you were valuable, but your reputation and connections have collapsed. You've disgraced the Hart family and shamed my father. You went from valuable to worthless. My father quickly gave you your deserved divorce."

"Monica, since returning from the orphanage, I've known this day would come. I would make you taste what I endured ten years ago—the loss of loved ones, the betrayal of the world."

Monica gritted her teeth. She had underestimated Olive. "Olive, if I'd known, I would have killed you ten years ago. I shouldn't have let you live."

Olive calmly finished her tea. "You should regret not killing me then, because today is just the beginning." She set down her cup and left. "You're worthless. You're not worth my time."

Monica felt a sour taste, almost spitting blood. She suppressed it and laughed. "Olive, do you think your father will divorce me? Let me tell you, Pamela's back!"

Pamela, the pride of the Hart family, Patrick's favorite daughter, LA's top socialite. Even Gabriella perked up. "Olive, my sister's back. Ten years ago, you couldn't compete, and you still can't."

Olive's eyes brightened. "That's wonderful. I've been waiting for this day. You both are my gift to her. When you see her, ask if she's satisfied."
