After that night, Alpha moved back to the Red Velvet room. Lily was so depressed. She didn’t realize that by taking Elvis, she had inadvertently helped Alpha and Anabelle break the ice.

The doctor examined her and then whispered to Alpha, who stood by her side: “President Augustine, the baby in the lady’s belly is very healthy. The fetal movements and B-ultrasound indicate a cold, quiet personality. In the future, her personality will definitely be more like the lady’s; she will be a talented girl, but…”

The doctor cautiously glanced at Alpha’s expression before continuing: “Madam’s health is very weak. Recently… have you been… in the same room? Madam is already nine months pregnant, so it’s not good to have sex. Mr. Augustine, please… pay more attention to her body and be more restrained.” The doctor then stepped back.

Standing outside the door, Lily could only enviously dig her nails into her palms. From the doctor’s words, it was clear that Alpha had been intimate with Anabelle frequently and without restraint. At that time, Alpha no longer worked in his study. He’d moved his office into the room with Anabelle, watching her. Lily wondered if it was the time Anabelle had brought a knife that scared him, making him want to stay with her constantly.

Soon, the maidservant entered and laid out delicate sweets. “Madam, since you were pregnant, you’ve always liked sour food. Today I made some sweets with lemon and sour plum. Please try one.”

The floor of the Red Velvet room was soft, and Anabelle’s appetite was especially poor after she became pregnant with her second child. Alpha had hired the best chef and coaxed her to eat in various ways every day.

Anabelle reached for a lollipop and licked it several times. Lily had always thought Anabelle was pregnant with a boy, not only because of the fetal image but also because of her craving for sour foods.

The maid stepped back. Alpha looked up at some point, his gaze falling on Anabelle. He then put down the document, stood up, and walked over to her. He looked at her condescendingly, asking, “Is the lollipop good?”

Anabelle raised her eyes and looked at him.

He reached out, pinching her small jaw with two slender fingers, curling his thin lips. “Do you want more lollipops?”

Anabelle didn’t understand at first, but after a few seconds, her pupils constricted, and she quickly looked away.

Alpha pinched her small face and turned her around. “Disobeying again? These days you always complain that you’re not well; I can’t bear to touch you anymore. Don’t mess around here.”

Anabelle wanted to push him away.

Alpha quietly said, “You don’t want the baby in your belly anymore, do you?”

She was stunned, successfully threatened by him, shifting from resistance to submission. Anabelle always believed her obedience would lead to a safe birth, but she underestimated Alpha’s danger. From start to finish, he never intended to keep this child, not even for a second.

Lily woke up from distant memories. She thought what she saw back then was the whole truth, but now she was confused. She felt that Bounty was hiding something from her.

“Bounty, what are you talking about? I don’t understand. What’s wrong with Alpha…? What do you mean he will die one day?” Lily asked.

Bounty turned and looked at Lily. “Sister-in-law, I’m sorry. I can’t tell you about this.”

“Why not? Bounty, do you still consider me an outsider? You can tell Anabelle but not me?” Lily purposely made a hurt face. She realized she was wrong. She had thought that after that year’s incident, Bounty wholeheartedly considered her as her sister-in-law, but she didn’t.

Bounty’s face was pale, but she looked at Lily calmly, slowly pursing her lips. “Sister-in-law, do you think… on your wedding night, I didn’t know that you planned for Anabelle to run away with Marcus? You fooled my brother!”

“What?” Lily felt like she was electrocuted, not expecting Bounty to know about this. She exclaimed, “Bounty, I… I don’t understand what you’re saying!”

“Sister-in-law, you don’t have to pretend in front of me. I’m a medical student. I accidentally saw Anabelle’s mother in the hospital once. She was followed by the Midns family to manipulate Anabelle, right?”
