Chapter 56: She's Hiding Some Little Secrets

Olive pursed her lips. "Pamela, did you know I've been thinking of you every day for the past ten years?"

"Of course, I believe it," Pamela replied. "I also know you'll return someday, Olive, so I haven't slacked off these past ten years. I've worked hard to improve myself."

As LA's number one socialite, Pamela possessed striking beauty and a melodious voice. Even when she uttered, "I'll send you to hell," her gentle smile created an unsettling effect.

Olive gazed at the dazzling dawn outside the window and said slowly, "I came from the abyss. I've never feared it. You, however, have lived in heaven for the past ten years. Bidding you farewell for ten years was my greatest kindness."

Pamela was silent for a moment, then hung up.

Olive put away her phone, stood, and headed for the shower. She had to admit that, while Monica had birthed a villain like Gabriella, Pamela was a rival not to be underestimated.

The memory of Pamela's humility ten years ago remained vivid. Back then, Olive and North were best friends, and Pamela often stood shyly in the corner, admiring them. When invited to play, she nervously tugged at her clothes, appearing timid. Olive and North would chatter and laugh, while Pamela quietly hid.

Olive felt Pamela's current high-profile position was detrimental to her.

North had always disliked Pamela, even in their teens. She'd warned Olive that Pamela was a force to be reckoned with and advised caution. But Olive, regarding Pamela as a good friend, had harbored no doubts. That trust had led her into an abyss.

Olive stayed home that day, gardening with the old lady. At noon, she checked social media; Pamela was trending. Pamela had released a public statement regarding recent family events.

"I heard the bad news and rushed back to LA. My mother was truly wrong. I'm not asking for forgiveness, only for another chance at life."

Pamela included a photo of Monica, lying sadly in an intensive care unit.

Olive chuckled. Pamela's post was masterful, showcasing her innocence and filial piety.

Over the past ten years, Pamela had become deeply entrenched in the public's heart. Though not in the entertainment industry, she boasted over eighteen million followers—mostly devoted fans.

Olive remained on Pamela's timeline. Within ten minutes, the post had garnered a million likes. Comments flooded in:

"Goodness, Pamela, we've got you." "It must be hard having such parents." "Our prayers are with you." "Anyone else notice strange things started happening in the Hart family since Olive's return?" This comment was quickly followed by countless agreeing replies. "Oh my gosh! You hit the nail on the head!" "Her entire family was ruined the moment that girl came back." "True, I suspect her next target will be our Pamela." "She better not touch Pamela. I'll forget the law and kill her myself."

Pamela, hailed as a medical genius, had consistently excelled academically, becoming LA's first medical student to graduate with double honors.

Public opinion had swiftly shifted due to Pamela's post. Olive wasn't surprised. Her return had indeed caused an uproar in the Hart family. She and North had used social media to overwhelm Monica.

Olive checked her own account: eight hundred thousand followers. How could she compete with Pamela's eighteen million?

In seconds, Olive's message box filled with threatening messages. She casually clicked on a few:

"You suburban bastard, leave this city!" "You planned what happened to the Hart family. Your heart is poisonous." "Touch Pamela, and you'll be shot next time you cross the street."

North's message arrived: "Olive, you're being bombarded."

"North, I told you not to underestimate Pamela. She's scheming and ruthless. Her biggest advantage is her medical persona," Olive replied.

"True, but did you know Pamela's medical skills have advanced by leaps and bounds since your return? She's been featured by countless media outlets, all calling her a medical genius."

North and Pamela were two of the most popular women in recent years. Both were beloved and admired.

Olive studied North's message. She'd heard of, and was familiar with, a prestigious medical institution.

Olive gave North a thumbs-up. North replied instantly: "Are you hiding something?"

At the hospital, Gabriella, having seen the shift in public opinion, rushed to Pamela.

"Sis, you're amazing! One post, and you've completely crushed Olive."
