Chapter 761 Fake Pregnancy

When Alpha attempts to conquer her, Anabelle presents a cold, indifferent faรงade. In truth, she is exceptionally difficult to subdue; only in bed does he gain any measure of control. Each time, she struggles fiercely, but soon her body weakens, her face flushes, and even her almond eyes betray intense emotion. She gazes at him with teary eyes, revealing a hidden love. This time, he senses that love clearly on her face.

โ€œAnabelle, stop struggling. I never intended to let you go. You know you canโ€™t escape. Letโ€™s just have another baby.โ€

โ€œA baby?โ€

โ€œYes, Anabelle. You donโ€™t know yet. Youโ€™re pregnant. You have our baby in your belly.โ€ Alphaโ€™s gaze falls on her stomach.

Anabelle frowns. โ€œAlpha, I donโ€™t understand this misunderstanding. I canโ€™t get pregnant. Iโ€™m not pregnant.โ€

Alpha senses her resistance, but persists, believing her to be pregnant. โ€œAnabelle, I want you to have this baby. You owe me a child.โ€

Anabelle understands his reference. Years ago, she was pregnant with a second child, a daughter, whom he always believed belonged to Marcus. After her daughter disappeared, he relentlessly pursued another child, claiming she owed him one.

She couldn't endure it. On the night she left, she injured him with scissors, then jumped from a high platform in the Red Velvet room amidst the ensuing chaos. She never saw the baby. She herself had performed the delivery, the pain so excruciating it left her trembling. He snatched the child away before she could even see it. Despite her pleas, he refused to let her see the baby. The child died. Lily later revealed that he cruelly discarded the infant in the trash.

The memory drains the color from Anabelleโ€™s face. Guilt, self-recrimination, and profound sorrow consume her. She curls her fingers, then looks up at him. โ€œAlpha, where was my daughter? Where did you put her?โ€

Alphaโ€™s thin lips tighten. He recalls someone telling Anabelle he had thrown the baby in the trash. During that period, her mental state was fragile. One night, he found her awake, alone in the corner, searching through the trash. She was looking for her child.

Alpha will not reveal that the infant was a boy, Marvinโ€”her punishment. He intends to keep them apart, even if they one day meet. โ€œAnabelle, do you really have to tell me this? You know it will anger me, and that won't benefit you.โ€

Anabelleโ€™s face is pale, her gaze cold. โ€œThen letโ€™s discuss my pregnancy. I am not pregnant. If you donโ€™t believe me, call a doctor.โ€

Alpha frowns, his face darkening. โ€œAnabelle, does the idea of carrying my child upset you so much?โ€

โ€œWho told you I was pregnant?โ€ Anabelle asks.

Alpha replies, โ€œOlive.โ€

Anabelle instantly understands Olive's deception. โ€œAlpha, Olive manipulated you to lure you to Imperial. Iโ€™m not pregnant. Olive checked my pulse; she claimed I was frightened and lost my appetite. She recently prescribed medicine for my recovery, which I took. Iโ€™m much better now. If you doubt me, call a doctor. I canโ€™t lie about my pregnancy.โ€

Alpha immediately comprehends the situation. His face turns frigid; heโ€™s been tricked.

โ€œLetโ€™s go!โ€ he commands.

A flattering voice calls from outside, โ€œUncle Augustine, are you looking for me?โ€ Olive is at the door.

Alphaโ€™s face is grim. He glares at Anabelle and shouts, โ€œGet out!โ€

The doorknob turns; a crack opens, and Olive peeks in, implying, โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to hide, is there?โ€ She then enters, her bright eyes shining with a smile. โ€œUncle Augustine, were you looking for me?โ€

โ€œWhat do you think?โ€ Alpha replies, without answering her question.

Olive, playing it safe, moves slowly toward Anabelle, positioning herself behind her. She signals, โ€œUncle Augustine, donโ€™t be impulsive. Iโ€™m behind Aunt Anabelle.โ€

โ€œOh, Uncle Augustine, it was a joke. Aunt Anabelle isnโ€™t pregnant.โ€

Alphaโ€™s dark eyes narrow, his gaze like a dagger aimed at Olive. This girl is remarkably clever; she has expertly manipulated him during the Imperial trip, keeping him close. Heโ€™s never been manipulated like this before.

He worries about his son, Elvis, and his relationship with the fake girl. Oliveโ€™s actions buy him time; his sonโ€™s relationship with her is doomed. What should he do?

Olive, after all, is Alphaโ€™s favored daughter-in-law. Despite his resentment, he finds himself increasingly satisfied with her. She must be secured for the Augustine family.

Reuben rushes in, sweating and trembling. โ€œSirโ€ฆ sir, what are your orders?โ€

โ€œCall the doctor. Now!โ€

โ€œYes, sir!โ€ Reuben flees.

Alpha insists on a personal confirmation of Anabelleโ€™s pregnancy. A doctor arrives and examines her.

โ€œMr. Augustine, the lady is not pregnant. Sheโ€™s simply weak and malnourished; she requires more rest.โ€

Alpha immediately looks at Olive, who gazes at him innocently, suggesting, โ€œI wasnโ€™t joking this time.โ€

Alpha grits his teeth. Anabelle protects Olive, and looks fiercely at him, conveying, โ€œTry me.โ€
