Chapter 73: She Agreed to the Bet

It was an impossible task. Olive looked at Hudson, her clear eyes meeting his. She nodded firmly. “Understood, Director Hudson.” She had agreed.

Pamela and Greg stared, dumbfounded. Though Hudson disliked Olive, he remained silent. "The three of you should return to your posts," he commanded, then sharply reprimanded the onlookers recording the scene on their phones. "Don't you have work to do? Do you want me to invite you to my office?"

The onlookers, having witnessed a spectacle already shared online, quickly dispersed. Hudson left as well.

As soon as he was gone, Greg glared at Olive. "What method did you use to get into the Ivory Council?"

Olive countered, "Why should I tell you? Are you my friend?"

Pamela scrutinized Olive from head to toe. Olive had won the bet; she was inside the institute. The method remained a mystery, but Pamela suspected Elvis's involvement. He was the only one capable of such a feat; with his order, anyone could gain entry.

Envy gnawed at Pamela. She loathed Olive, but her beautiful face betrayed nothing. Instead, she worriedly asked, "Olive, the bet was just sibling rivalry. Now that you're in, can you pass the test?"

"Yeah, that's the question," Greg echoed. "Can you pass the test? Go in and see how big our pharmacy is. You can't memorize all the substances in three days. Leave now, before you're humiliated."

Pamela added, her voice laced with anger, "This has become a huge deal. Even the medical research institute is involved. Olive, how long can you maintain this?"

Olive watched them, her brow furrowed. "It's my business," she said. "You don't need to worry about it. We'll all see how it ends." She left them and entered the pharmacy.

"Pamela, your sister is arrogant, but don't worry," Greg muttered. "She'll be humbled."

"Greg, thank you for your help," Pamela replied. "I'll treat you to dinner."

Greg, admiring Pamela, was interrupted by a phone call from Gwen. Finding a private spot, Pamela answered.

"Hello, Gwen."

Gwen's voice was frantic. "Pamela, what's going on? Olive's actually in the institute! We lost the bet! North's fans are mocking us!"

Pamela's expression didn't change. "This must be Elvis's doing."

"What!" Gwen exclaimed. "He gave her his card, and helped her get into the Ivory Council? I don't know what kind of love potion that girl used on him!"

Pamela remained silent until Gwen, sensing her anger, changed her tone. "Pamela, what should we do now?"

Pamela pursed her lips. "Nothing. Now that she's here, Olive has to prove herself or be expelled. In three days, Director Hudson will surely send her away. Don't worry, we'll have the last laugh."

Gwen agreed, thinking of the director's test. They would indeed have the last laugh.

Hudson, back in his office, was questioned by colleagues. "Director Hudson, how did Olive Hart get into our institute?" one asked. "She only graduated high school, with no medical experience," another added.

Hudson shared their concerns. Olive's admittance was an embarrassment to the Ivory Council. However, as director, he couldn't show it.

"Everyone, return to your posts," he said. "I've given Olive a task to test her abilities. She'll be dismissed if she fails."

Alone, he poured himself water, admitting he was deliberately trying to get rid of Olive. Memorizing twelve thousand substances in three days was impossible. He wouldn't have let her in, but he remembered a call the previous night—the dean had personally admitted Olive.

Olive checked her social media. Her followers had skyrocketed from eight to twelve million. The trending topics were all about her.

The comments poured in: "Olive actually got in! Unbelievable!" "I thought they were sure she wouldn't get in. Lol." Another countered, "Don't be too complacent. The test is in three days. Let's see who's embarrassed."

Olive knew the drama was far from over. A large portion of LA had been defeated. She put away her phone and entered the pharmacy.

A chubby girl ran out, smiling enthusiastically. "You're Olive, right? I'm Divine."

Olive smiled at the pretty girl. "Hello, Divine."

"Olive, I've heard your story. I admire you. I really want you to stay here..."
