Chapter 48
Enro was of marriageable age but lacked a partner. Besides his high standards, his dedication to his career was a significant reason for his bachelorhood. His ambition surpassed others', contributing significantly to his success. However, marriage was inevitable. As a Rivas, he needed an heir to avoid future complications, and his career success depended on finding a suitable partner.
Luca spoke softly, “Mr. Rivas, investigating Mr. Archer and Ms. Curtis's relationship won't be difficult, but it seems complicated. If you're considering something, it's best to proceed cautiously. If our investigation attracts Mr. Archer's attention, we could face serious trouble if he complains to Ms. Rivas.”
Enzo's face darkened, but he quickly regained his composure, waving lazily at Luca. “Just investigate. Don't worry about the rest. I know what to do.”
“I wouldn't dare!” Luca panicked.
The corner of Enzo's lips curled. “I showed Kyle respect, even went out of my way to please him, but he lectured me. Does he think he's superior? He'll learn who I really am!”
They arrived at the Imperial Hotel, but no Rivas family members greeted them. Enzo dropped the pretense, waving for his subordinates to open the limousine door for Kyle and Faith.
Approaching Kyle and Faith, Enzo plastered on a fake smile. “Mr. Archer, Ms. Curtis, your seats are arranged. You'll be at the main table with Elisa. Shall I take you there?”
Kyle nodded; the seating arrangement didn't matter to him. However, Faith seemed uncomfortable. Seeing the crowd in the banquet hall, she grew nervous and tugged Kyle's arm. She whispered, “Could we not sit at the main table?”
A main table seat at a Rivas banquet meant becoming the center of attention. Still recovering from her injuries, Faith preferred to avoid the spotlight.
Kyle nodded. “Guests usually follow the host's arrangements, but since you asked, we'll sit elsewhere.”
Turning to Enzo, Kyle said, “Please tell Elisa we don’t need special attention. Faith and I will look around. The Rivas family is the focus tonight, so don't worry about us.”
Enzo, unable to object, nodded respectfully. “I'll inform Elisa immediately, Mr. Archer. Please forgive any shortcomings. Feel free to call if you need anything.”
Kyle nodded slightly, and Enzo led Luca and his entourage into the hotel.
Meanwhile, in the Imperial Hotel's banquet hall…
The Imperial Hotel, a Berdonian landmark, was vast and extravagantly built. A nearly seven-foot-tall golden horse statue dominated the banquet hall, surrounded by priceless decorations. The hall bustled with elegantly dressed guests. Kedonia's elite had gathered.
Belle and Chloe stood at the entrance. Belle's floor-length gown, adorned with dazzling jewels, accentuated her figure and glowing skin, instantly captivating attention. Chloe, in a simpler blue dress, paled in comparison. While her dress was acceptable, the material and jewels lacked Belle's opulence.
Chloe understood but concealed her dissatisfaction. Attending was better than not. She believed she would soon replace Belle.
“Belle, so many important people! I've never been to such a large event,” Chloe said timidly, despite having accompanied Belle to high-end events before. “The Rivas family's influence is terrifying.” This was her first event of this scale.
