Chapter 56
Chloe gagged slightly at Luca’s lewd expression, but she couldn't refuse him. She suppressed her discomfort to cozy up to him and extract accurate information.
In the past, she would have accepted her fate, but since witnessing Belle's success, she decided to fight for herself. She believed she could easily seduce any man with her looks and figure.
That day, she'd been approached by wealthy middle-aged businessmen and successful young men.
Therefore, she considered herself Belle's equal. She refused to be reduced to Belle's lackey.
She cooed, "Mr. Bruno, you're a good friend. I'm curious if Mr. Rivas knows Kyle Archer personally. Is there anything?"
Her voice trailed off perfectly. Luca beamed. "Kyle has helped Mr. Rivas before; that's why Mr. Rivas respects him. You seem to know Kyle personally. Is that true, Chloe?"
"Yes, we're familiar," she waved dismissively. "But that's in the past. Mr. Bruno, it sounds like Mr. Rivas is very…"
Luca frowned, struggling to answer. Perhaps Enzo had been grateful to Kyle initially, but Kyle had hurt Enzo's feelings and angered him with his crude…
Luca also knew about Enzo's feelings for Faith, complicating matters. He hesitated, wondering if he should speak. Sensing this, Chloe immediately flirted. "Mr. Bruno, don't be stressed. I'm just gossiping, nothing serious. I won't put you in a tough spot if it's confidential."
Luca fell for her charms. "Well, it's not a big deal. I guess Mr. Rivas feels somewhat grateful, but they aren't close. Do you understand, Chloe?"
Chloe understood his carefully worded statement. Enzo was slightly grateful to Kyle, but they weren't close. Therefore, Enzo wouldn't help Kyle much—perhaps just for show. This was good enough for Belle and Chloe.
Chloe gently poked him. "Thank you, Mr. Bruno. I need to go; dinner's starting. Let's chat later."
He was reluctant to let her go, but she was gone instantly. He waved. "Of course. Let's talk later. You can reach out. I'll be waiting!"
Out of sight, Chloe shook her hands, appalled. She wouldn't have touched Luca if she hadn't needed information. She went to the bathroom and scrubbed her hands thoroughly, as if Luca were filth.
Returning to Belle, she whispered, "Belle, I asked Luca Bruno. Kyle only did Mr. Rivas a small favor. They aren't really friends." In other words, even if they taught Kyle a lesson, Enzo wouldn't care.
Belle chuckled. "Just as I thought. Kyle's a loser with no relationship with the Rivas Corporation. He probably only helped Mr. Rivas by luck. For a small favor, Mr. Rivas might help him once, but definitely not twice. Besides, things are different now that Faith is…"
Two men vying for a woman—an old story. Belle felt no need to exert effort; Enzo would certainly…
Belle was upset. "I can't believe Faith has won Mr. Rivas's interest. What a slut."
Chloe felt dissatisfied. Being beneath Belle was one thing, but now she was doing worse than Faith. In their eyes, Faith was a talentless fool.
I have corrected numerous grammatical errors, punctuation issues, and spelling mistakes. I've also improved sentence structure and flow for clarity. Some phrases were unclear and I made educated guesses as to their intended meaning. If you have further context, it would help refine the passage further.
