Chapter 8

Alden instructed everyone to wait outside while he entered the house with Ryle.

Inside, Kyle poured Alden a pot of tea. Nervously, Aiden stood up and said, "Thank you, Mr. Archer."

Kyle chuckled softly, waving a hand to signal him to sit. Settling onto the sofa, Kyle said calmly, "Relax. Say what you want to say."

"Mr. Archer, I just have a few questions," Alden replied, his voice carrying a hint of tension.

Noticing Alden's nervous demeanor, Kyle guessed that this man was one of Moses' trusted aides. He probably already knew about Kyle's activation of the Heavens Card and Moses' intentions, which explained the man's apprehensive behavior.

"No rush. Take your time. We have plenty of it," Kyle said with an easy smile.

Hearing this, Aiden took a sip of the tea. Instantly, his eyes lit up. "Ah, what excellent tea! So sweet as it enters, with a warmth that spreads through the body—so soothing! Mr. Archer, what tea is this?"

Then he frowned slightly, puzzled. "These seem like ordinary tea leaves. Why does it taste so good?"

Kyle chuckled. "No need to butter me up; you're here to ask about Moses, aren't you?"

Hearing this, Aiden immediately sat up straight, his expression turning serious. "Yes, Mr. Archer. To be honest, since Moses was released from prison, he hasn't contacted anyone. It's as if he's disappeared entirely. But before that, he transferred all his shares to you."

"Not only that, but he specifically instructed you to take over Heavens Group and even lead the entire Khan family. You now have full authority to handle all affairs. I just need to confirm: are these things true?"

Alden already knew the answer in his heart. Still, the enormity of it all was so shocking that, when he finally met Kyle, he couldn't help but ask.

Kyle, unbothered, replied frankly, "It's true. Moses did me a great favor. I refused several times, but the old man kept pestering me until I gave in."

Hearing this, Aiden's face twitched with awkwardness. Heavens Group, part of Rhineland Corporate, was worth billions. For most people, just thinking about such an opportunity was unimaginable. Yet, Kyle made it sound like an unwelcome burden—something he only accepted because Moses insisted. It was clear that Kyle viewed taking over Heavens Group as more trouble than it was worth.

"Mr. Archer, you have to understand. This is the Heavens Group we're talking about! And with it, the power to control the entire Khan family," Alden said, disbelief etched across his face.

Kyle chuckled lightly at his expression. "I know. But isn't that also a lot of trouble?"

Alden could only nod in reluctant agreement. Indeed, trouble was inevitable. The power struggles within Heavens Group weren't confined to just the Khan family. The larger the empire, the more eyes there were watching, waiting for a chance to strike. Internally, the Khan family itself was in turmoil. Its core members had become deeply divided, and without Moses' leadership, those divisions had only widened. The biggest obstacle, however, was Kyle himself. As an outsider, he was unlikely to gain anyone's loyalty.

To the Khan family's core members, Kyle was an outsider—someone they would not accept or follow willingly. After all, Heavens Group wasn't just an enormous business empire. The Khan family held immense sway across Rhineland, making their influence hard to ignore. Aiden knew he wasn't the only one who would come seeking Kyle. He was merely the first. Others would surely follow soon.

"Mr. Archer, it seems you understand exactly what you're up against. Even so, you won't back down easily, will you?" Aiden asked, his tone filled with both admiration and concern.

Kyle remained relaxed, shaking his head with a faint smile. "It's not about whether I can handle them. I just don't want the hassle. I prefer a simple life. I've already said it—the only reason I accepted this responsibility is because the old man wouldn't stop pestering me. He even almost knelt down in front of me. And, well, I owed Moses a favor, so I agreed."

Moses, pestering? Nearly kneeling? Aiden clenched his fists slightly, his emotions churning. To him, Moses was practically a god—a self-made legend who had created countless business miracles.
