Chapter 122: Unexpected Revelations

Before anyone could speak, Jonathan’s voice rang out, “Sierra, I’ve brought the flowers.”

“Mr. Yeager?” Denise was so thrilled to see Jonathan that she didn’t even hear what he and Sierra were saying.

“Thank you!” Sierra walked over to Jonathan, who smiled indulgently. “Why are you acting so formal?” With that, he lifted his hand and playfully pinched Sierra’s cheek. Not only the others, but even Sierra herself was taken aback; she had asked Jonathan to play along, but this was more cooperation than she’d expected. Jonathan’s touch was so intense it felt like it could ignite her.

His gesture stunned everyone. Denise looked at them incredulously, struggling to breathe, clutching her chest as if the air had been knocked out of her.

Bradley was the first to snap out of it, rushing to comfort Denise before angrily shouting at Sierra, “What are you doing?”

Sierra shrugged innocently. “What am I doing? Didn’t you all say Denise needed to see me, that she wouldn’t have the surgery unless I came? So, I brought my boyfriend with me today!”

“Impossible!” Denise somehow found the strength to push away Bradley, who was trying to calm her, and struggled to get out of bed. “Mr. Yeager can’t possibly be your boyfriend! How could he be interested in you?”

Just as Sierra was about to speak, Jonathan’s voice cut in, “Ms. Xander!” Jonathan’s expression was cold, his voice no longer warm but filled with anger. “Sierra is my girlfriend; please show some respect.”

Seeing Jonathan like this, Denise panicked, quickly saying, “Mr. Yeager, don’t be fooled by her; she’s the biggest liar. She’s been in jail…”

Jonathan raised his voice to interrupt Denise. “Ms. Xander! I’ll say it again, Sierra is my girlfriend, and I don’t want to hear these things anymore!” Turning away from Denise, he looked at Bradley. “Mr. Bradley, please control your sister. She’s not a child anymore, and her childish behavior could bring disaster to the Xander family.”

His words were unapologetically harsh; even Bradley’s face fell, but Jonathan continued coldly. “I’ve seen enough of the Xander family’s upbringing today. You begged Sierra to visit, and then she gets insulted by you? Is this how you treat people?”

Watching the tall figure standing in front of her, speaking up for her, a warm feeling swept through Sierra. Even though she knew Jonathan was just acting, at that moment, her heart fluttered uncontrollably. This was the first time someone had stood in front of her, protecting her so completely.

At that moment, Sierra only had eyes for Jonathan. The contrast between Denise’s and Sierra’s feelings was stark. Denise had always suspected Jonathan’s feelings for Sierra were special, but she had been in denial; now, she could no longer lie to herself. She had lost! She had lost to Sierra.

Denise’s breath hitched, and she fainted. The hospital room erupted into chaos, with people calling for help, crying, and making a commotion.

Sean glared at Sierra. “You never had good intentions; you just hoped something would happen to Denise.”

“Congratulations, you’re right.” Sierra didn’t dodge the accusation. She took the flowers from Jonathan’s hand, placed them on the ground, and said calmly, “Consider this an early gift for Denise.”

That’s when Sean noticed Jonathan had brought chrysanthemums. Everyone had been so focused on Jonathan they hadn’t even noticed. Bradley saw it too and angrily looked at Jonathan. “It’s one thing for Sierra to be thoughtless, but how can you be thoughtless too?”

Jonathan slightly curled his lip. “Who gave you the impression that you could lecture me?” As he spoke, his gaze turned icy, his glasses unable to hide the chill. Bradley, startled, instinctively stepped back, stammering, “You…”

Jonathan dropped his aggressive stance and said coldly, “Only you get to disgust people? We can’t disgust you back? Where in the world does that kind of logic come from? Besides, you pamper your sister, and I cherish my girlfriend; what’s wrong with that?”

Jonathan’s words were irrefutable, leaving no room for argument. Having seen enough of the Xander family’s embarrassment, Sierra stepped forward, took Jonathan’s arm, and said, “Mr. Yeager, let’s go.”
