Chapter 150: Mystery Man from Imperial City

Kason was the only one who knew the truth. It was finished.

It was highly likely that Brendan’s downfall was orchestrated by Jonathan. The timing was too coincidental. Just after Brendan had spoken of teaching Jonathan a lesson, he was the one who ended up in trouble. Who exactly was Jonathan?

This thought prompted Kason to ask, “Haven’t you found out anything yet?”

His subordinate hurriedly replied, “Mr. Kason, Brendan’s incident has stirred up a lot of attention, and everyone is being very cautious, unwilling to talk.”

“Don’t give me excuses; I want results.”

Kason was displeased. He spent so much money annually, and he did not intend to sustain incompetence. His people, pushed to their limits, did manage to dig up some information.

“Mr. Kason, it’s said that Mr. Brendan offended someone from Imperial City.”

“From Imperial City?”

Kason frowned. Was Jonathan’s background that significant?

“Yes, they say he was visiting Maviston yesterday, and Brendan decided to target him, which led him to flip the entire place in anger.” The incident had happened just last night, and some people were aware of it.

“All this, just a coincidence?”

Kason still felt something was amiss. “Did you find out anything about that person’s identity?”

“Mr. Kason, we really can’t dig that up.” The subordinate looked forlorn. Getting even this much information was tough; their contacts didn’t know much about the visitor, only that Brendan had crossed a line with the wrong person.

After pondering for a moment, Kason decided, “Forget it; it’s his own bad luck!” He had warned Brendan before not to mess with unknown factors. Brendan, however, couldn’t control himself around anyone he found attractive, though he preferred to play it safe. “Keep an eye on Brendan; make sure he doesn’t talk.” He didn’t want Brendan spilling anything he knew—not that it was much—but it was always good to be cautious.

“Yes, sir.” The subordinate quickly went to see it done. Kason still felt uneasy, suspecting the timing of the events was too convenient. Suddenly, he had an idea and pulled out his phone to make a call.

“Hello?”

Shane’s voice came through quickly.

“I heard Mr. Shane is also from Imperial City?” Kason ventured.

“What would Mr. Kason like to know?”

“You’ve heard about Brendan’s situation, haven’t you?” Kason asked.

11:01 AM

“I caught wind of it this morning.”

“Do you know who the other party might be?”

Shane didn’t answer immediately, and the call was silent except for faint breathing, making Kason wonder if he had hung up. Knowing what Shane wanted, Kason coldly added, “You won’t miss out on any benefits.”

Hearing this, Shane finally spoke. “It’s said he crossed someone from the Radeon family.”

After dropping this information, Shane hung up.

The Radeon family? Kason was puzzled and quickly ordered his people to look up any prominent Radeon families in Imperial City. This information wasn’t secretive, and his people soon gathered some details, which he reviewed and then set aside, suddenly asking, “Also, check if there’s any prominent Yeager family.”

“Yes, Mr. Kason.”

After giving the orders, Kason reopened his phone to a photo of Jonathan and Sierra holding hands. He stared at it for a while before dialing Sierra’s number. “Hello, Ms. Xander, are we still on for Saturday?”

Sierra was having dinner with Jonathan when she received Kason’s call. She instinctively looked up at Jonathan. Sensing something, Jonathan frowned at her.

Avoiding Jonathan’s gaze, Sierra responded, “Of course! Every meeting with Mr. Kason is something to look forward to.”

Hearing Kason’s name, Jonathan’s expression grew even sharper.

After hanging up, Sierra avoided his eyes and said, “I know what I’m doing.”

Jonathan remained silent, just looking at her coldly. Even without looking up, Sierra could feel his anger. She hesitated but continued, “Kason is cautious; getting anything on him isn’t easy. I have to try.” And if she could leverage something against Kason, it might even draw out Shane, who was much tougher to handle. Thinking it over, she added, “He might have the truth about the car accident from over three years ago.”

“The accident!” Jonathan finally spoke. “Are you talking about the one that sent you to jail three years ago?”
