Chapter 155 Were You Scared?

Sierra looked at Dickson and said, “This time, I don’t want them to have any chance to help Denise escape punishment.”

Jonathan, who was standing nearby, spoke up. “That’s right. Just wait two more days. Once the report is out, it’ll all be settled.” At that time, it would be Evan’s moment of triumph, and also the Xander family’s moment of glory.

Seeing that Jonathan understood her meaning, Sierra smiled. After the excitement passed, she calmed down and asked with some doubt, “Why did Kason have this?”

Jonathan had some guesses. Both the Richardson family and the Xander family were built on pharmaceuticals, though the Xander family was slightly weaker in that area. But no one knew what would happen in the future, so it made sense that the Richardson family held some leverage over the Xander family.

“No matter what,” Sierra said, “Kason really helped me this time. Otherwise, clearing my own name wouldn’t have been so easy.” Now, with this in hand, plus the evidence her private investigator had gathered on Denise’s past actions, the public alone would be enough to destroy Denise.

Sierra was immersed in planning what would come next and didn’t notice the slight shift in Jonathan’s expression.

“Oh, by the way,” Jonathan invited, “I have some documents that might be useful to you. Want to come take a look?”

Sierra didn’t suspect anything. She told Dickson a few words and followed Jonathan to his place. As soon as the door closed, she was pressed against it. Jonathan became aggressive again. Sierra turned her head to avoid him and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong with you this time!”

Jonathan hadn’t expected her to be so sensitive. He hadn’t planned to say anything, but since she asked, he answered, “Just now, you were thanking Kason.”

Sierra was stunned. Seriously? Because of that?

“No, that’s not…” She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry and was about to explain when she felt a sharp sting on her neck. She let out a soft gasp and felt Jonathan release his teeth, replacing them with gentle sucking. This time, it was even more intense than in the car. By the time Sierra sat on the sofa, her mind was a complete mess. If Jonathan’s phone hadn’t suddenly rung and interrupted them, he might have gone even further. And she hadn’t even thought about pushing him away.

She couldn’t help but glance at Jonathan. He was standing on the balcony, talking on the phone. She couldn’t hear what he was saying, only saw his broad shoulders and lean waist. His body was amazing. And beneath that frame was an incredible amount of strength. Just now, she had felt it. Jonathan’s muscles were firm, his arms packed with raw power. She had no idea where a professor got that kind of strength.

But today, Jonathan shattered another one of her assumptions. A professor sitting in an office all day wasn’t necessarily weak. At least, Jonathan definitely wasn’t.

As if sensing her gaze, Jonathan turned his head to look at her. The aggression in his eyes faded, replaced by a gentle…

Chapter 155 Were You Scared?

Jonathan had so many faces. She couldn’t connect the man in front of her with the fierce one from earlier.

Almost instinctively, she raised a hand to touch her neck. It still stung a little. She didn’t need to look to know there would be a mark. When Jonathan bit her just now, she had seriously thought he was trying to kill her.

As she let her thoughts drift, Jonathan finished his call and walked over. Seeing her in a daze, he reached out and pinched her cheek. “Are you hungry? Want to eat something?”

She hadn’t felt it before, but as soon as he mentioned food, she realized she was starving. She hadn’t eaten anything after facing off with Kason.

“Want some pasta?” Jonathan asked.

Sierra nodded, watching as Jonathan headed to the kitchen. Standing in the doorway, she saw him skillfully put on an apron and roll up his sleeves. He looked every bit like a perfect homemaker.

She couldn’t help but say, “Jonathan, which one is the real you?”

Jonathan paused while washing the vegetables and looked back at her. “What do you mean?”

Sierra pressed her lips together. “You were really fierce just now.”

“You didn’t like it?” Jonathan raised an eyebrow at her.

Sierra remained silent. How am I supposed to answer that? Thinking carefully, she realized she didn’t dislike it. In fact, she actually liked how fierce he was at that moment.

“Were you scared?” Jonathan dried his hands and walked over to her.

“No.” Even though he had looked intimidating back then, she hadn’t felt afraid. Maybe, deep down, she instinctively believed that Jonathan would never hurt her.
