Chapter 162: Sierra’s Presentation
At this moment, she no longer cared about protecting her knowledge. She only wanted to prove to everyone that boasting would lead to a brutal slap in the face. Sierra’s moment of glory came next.
She stood with composure, beginning with the core concept of her research and methodically explaining every step of her thought process, the challenges she encountered, and the countless revisions and refinements. The more she spoke, the worse the expressions of those present became. They were all researchers; they understood. Only someone who had personally conducted the research could provide such precise details. Even those unfamiliar with the field could recognize this.
At that moment, both the venue and the online audience fell completely silent, their eyes fixed solely on her. Jonathan watched Sierra the entire time, his eyes filled with pride and delight. This confident and composed Sierra was especially captivating.
In contrast, the others looked absolutely miserable, especially the Xander family members. Franklin and Eleanor stared in shock, their gazes filled with confusion and regret. Was Sierra really this exceptional? Why had they never known? Bradley gazed at his sister with an intense expression, as if seeing her for the first time.
Suddenly, something occurred to him, and he turned to his younger brother, only to see Evan’s face frozen in disbelief and bewilderment. Each word Sierra spoke felt like a slap across Evan’s face! All his past doubts and mockery were now returning to hit him, rendering him utterly speechless. His eyes were filled with shock, and he was beyond embarrassed.
So it was really Sierra’s research! But how was that possible? Evan felt like he was about to collapse. His once cocky demeanor and hidden sense of superiority had completely crumbled. Since childhood, he had been passionate about biochemistry. Upon entering the field, he was showered with praise, many calling him a genius. After hearing it so many times, he had come to believe it himself. But today, Sierra had slapped that belief right out of him.
What kind of “genius” was he, then? Evan swayed unsteadily, his vision darkening. Thankfully, Bradley noticed his condition and quickly caught him, preventing him from collapsing. “Evan!” Bradley called out, but he didn’t know what else to say. He understood exactly how Evan felt; Bradley had always held himself in high regard. Losing to Jonathan was one thing, but losing to Sierra? That was a blow Evan might not recover from.
Even worse than Evan’s reaction was Denise’s. Her eyes, besides being filled with shock, were brimming with jealousy and fear. How could this be? Sierra really had done this research? Having studied the same field for so long, Denise was well aware of how valuable this research was.
Sierra had never been able to compare to her. Even though Sierra was the Xander family’s biological daughter, so what? Their parents and brothers had always favored her. Whenever people spoke of the Xander family, they only knew “Denise”; no one ever mentioned “Sierra.” But after today, everything would change. From now on, everyone would know Sierra. No one would care about Denise anymore. The thought drove Denise to the brink of madness with jealousy!
Desperate, she frantically interrupted Sierra’s presentation. “Enough, enough! Who knows if you just memorized all of this? Mr. Yaeger must have told you everything beforehand, and you just repeated it! Yes, that must be it!” Denise thought her words would gain support from the crowd, but to her surprise, no one backed her up. Many professionals were present, and they all understood that only the original researcher could deliver such a presentation. Denise’s words only exposed her ignorance and shallowness, making her look exactly like a ridiculous clown.
Sierra’s presentation had been interrupted, but she had no intention of continuing; this was enough! She shot Denise a cold glance. “You really are as stupid as ever.” Denise was so enraged by this remark that she nearly fainted. She was about to retort when Franklin raised a hand to stop her. “Enough. Denny, stop talking! Your sister is truly exceptional. We were the ones who misunderstood her all along.” As a businessman, Franklin was the quickest to react.
