Chapter 164: Exposing the Truth
Sierra was unaware of the online discussions. She watched the Xander family's performance with cold eyes before speaking. “If you really feel guilty, shouldn’t you at least clear my name?”
The others didn't understand, but the Xander family did. Their expressions instantly changed. Denise, standing apart, felt suffocated since Sierra had become the center of attention. She’d forced herself to endure, though she didn’t know what she was waiting for. Hearing Sierra’s words, she gasped for air, nearly collapsing before digging her nails into her palm to steady herself. A bad feeling washed over her.
“Sierra…” Bradley said, his expression complex. “Can we talk about this privately?”
With so many watching, how could they explain themselves? The livestream was still running; exposure wouldn't just doom Denise, but the entire Xander family. Revealing their bribe would cause an insurmountable scandal.
Sierra chuckled indifferently. “Why should we talk privately?” She glanced at the trembling Denise and said coolly, “Now, it’s your turn.”
Denise’s heart leaped. She blurted, “Sierra, don’t!” She knew what Sierra was about to do. Rushing to interject, she snapped, “If you really go through with this, you won’t get away either.” Exposing the truth wouldn't benefit Sierra; she would face consequences too. This thought offered Denise slight relief.
“Sierra, let’s talk!” The Xander family, realizing the same, desperately tried to persuade her. “Sierra, don’t be reckless. Let’s handle this privately. We’ll make sure you get justice.”
Sierra laughed, almost to tears. Wiping her eyes, she sneered. “Justice? Do you think I’d still believe that?”
Before they could respond, she plugged in her USB drive and played a video on the projector. The moment footage from over three years ago appeared—someone being thrown through the air—the room erupted in shock. Terror filled Denise’s eyes. How could this still exist? Hadn't it been deleted? Why was there still evidence?
The Xander family’s faces darkened. This was worse than they imagined. They thought Sierra would only discuss the past incident, which they could still navigate without proof. But now, with the video played for all to see, they were paralyzed.
Seeing their horror, Sierra spoke clearly. “If you won’t give me justice, I’ll claim it myself! Denise, I sat in prison for three years for you. How should we settle this? Mr. Franklin, Mr. Xander, and the brothers of the Xander family! How should we settle this?”
The Xander family was speechless. Meanwhile, the internet exploded.
“Holy shit! So it was Denise who hit that person, not Sierra? So Denise was the one who should’ve gone to prison?”
“No wonder the Xander family kept begging for Sierra’s forgiveness, and she refused. So this was why!”
“This is absolutely insane! I’ve never seen favoritism this extreme before… Sending their own biological daughter to prison?”
Chapter 164: Exposing the Truth - Finished
“I used to think the Xander family only mistreated Sierra regarding living conditions and language barriers, but this? They’re crazy!”
Back at the venue, murmurs arose, and all eyes turned toward the Xander family, filled with shock and condemnation. Denise couldn’t hear them. Seeing the video, something inside her snapped. Her mind went blank, a single thought echoing: It’s over. The weight of judgmental stares and whispers broke her. Her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
The scandal was uncontainable. It exploded online, and authorities intervened, taking Sierra and the Xander family into custody. Sierra had anticipated this from the moment she played the video.
During interrogation, she calmly recounted the incident: how, after the accident, the Xander family forced her to take the blame, threatened her, and manipulated her using her grandmother. She knew she would face consequences, but she had no regrets. She would take responsibility for her actions, but never again admit to something she hadn’t done. She was prepared, yet finding herself locked in the interrogation room, she couldn’t help but feel a little afraid.
