Chapter 222: The Trap is Set

After finishing her grandmother's farewell, Sierra smiled. “Grandma would have been happy.” Jonathan pulled her into a hug, his heart aching for her. This girl always made him want to hold her closer.

Now that her grandmother was gone, Sierra felt a heavy burden lift. Her next goal was clear—Kason.

In the meantime, Stone had visited once. That's when Sierra learned his true identity. He couldn't stay in Maviston long—his presence alone was too conspicuous—but he left behind trusted men. "They're reliable," he assured her. They couldn't use local forces, so they had to reach beyond their usual channels. It was a bold move, but Stone assured her there wouldn't be any issues.

With everything in place, Sierra took the next step—she contacted Kason. "Take me to that place from last time," she said. "I want to see what you're really working with." Kason sounded thrilled. "Of course. You're going to love it!"

Just like before, she was blindfolded as soon as she got into the car. But this time, Sierra was more prepared. She had her own precautions in place. The earrings she wore weren't just for show—she had the full matching set today, necklace too. It was a safety net. She also had weapons hidden in her bag—tools that Stone had assured her wouldn't be detected.

As soon as she stepped into the car, Jonathan, Mateo, and Stone's men sprang into action, tracking her in real-time. Jonathan remained tense. Mateo tried to reassure him. "Relax, Jonathan. We have the location. She's got weapons, and we're not striking today—we're just gathering intel." Still, Jonathan said nothing. For some reason, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Inside the building, Sierra moved with confidence. She wasn't worried about being discovered. Sure enough, none of the security checks detected anything on her. She ran her fingers through her hair, lightly brushing her earring.

Kason, arrogant as ever, didn't think twice about the gesture. He was too busy admiring her. "You like that kind of jewelry?" he asked, glancing at her earrings. They were sapphire—expensive, but not outrageously so. "I have a few top-tier emeralds," he continued. "I can get you a full set made. Green would look great on your skin." For a second, Sierra's heart pounded. Had he noticed something? But then she realized—no. He was just trying to impress her. Typical. She forced a smile. "Keep it. I like what I have now."

In the surveillance van, Mateo chuckled. "Damn, Jonathan. Your rival is outdoing you. The guy's already offering her jewelry, and you still haven't given her anything!" Jonathan shot him a cold look. Mateo shivered. "Fine, fine. You provide the materials, I'll craft something better." The van's temperature seemed to return to normal. Mateo clicked his tongue.

Kason really didn't know what kind of hell he was about to walk into. Meanwhile, Kason led Sierra into the office. Sierra instantly felt sick. She remembered this place too well. She knew there were cameras; she just had to find them. Kason was talking, but she wasn't really listening. She was thinking about Shane. He was a textbook psychopath. Where would he put the cameras? She recalled the videos. She had to pinpoint the angle. Her gaze flickered toward the computer across from the bed.

"You looking for something?" Kason had caught her staring. He followed her gaze but only saw his computer. "Nothing," Sierra said smoothly. Then she glanced back at him. "When do I get to see this big surprise of yours?" Kason raised a brow. "You seem eager today." It was a test. Sierra didn't flinch. "I don't like wasting time."
