When the Flame of Love Fades
Chapter 81: Show Me the Papers!
Evan snorted coldly upon hearing the news. “This shows a clear lack of respect for the Xander family.”
Startled, Wagner responded, “What do you mean, Mr. Evan? Isn’t she no longer a part of the Xander family?”
Evan’s face darkened, and his expression turned serious. “Who told you that?”
They had been investigating who leaked the information for the past two days but came up empty.
Wagner hesitated.
Evan’s expression turned icy. “Speak!”
Startled, Wagner quickly explained, “I heard it from Ms. Denise by accident. The day Ms. Xander came to change her major, I casually asked, and Ms. Denise said Sierra was no longer with the Xander family; she did it to avoid suspicion.”
Evan was completely stunned! When the school started spreading unfavorable rumors about Sierra, he had his doubts, but he dismissed them. Even now, he couldn’t believe it was Denise’s doing.
He thought about calling Denny but suddenly recalled past incidents, like how his older brother had someone handle things in prison, but due to a mix-up, Sierra didn’t get the help. And how Sierra suffered so much during her long stint in prison without them hearing a whisper about it.
Suddenly, Evan was afraid to make that call; he feared everything would change with just one phone call.
Just as Evan was reeling, Sierra suddenly spoke up, “I demand the exam papers be made public!”
Ricky turned pale instantly and hurriedly said, “That’s against the rules.”
“Isn’t it supposed to be fair and transparent? If you don’t make the papers public, how can we be sure you’re not covering for me? What if I took one set of papers, and you show a different set to everyone else? I’m thinking about the school’s credibility too, aren’t I?”
Sierra countered using Ricky’s own words, leaving him speechless. At that moment, Ricky was sweating bullets. He knew the difficulty of those papers; they were meant for PhD students, and now they were using them for an undergraduate exam. If word got out, what would people think of their school?
But now, influenced by Sierra’s words, the students were demanding the papers be made public. Ricky found himself in a dilemma! He glared fiercely at Sierra, who just smirked sarcastically.
If she didn’t stand up for herself, they really would think she was easy to bully! Whether she suffered was her choice, not theirs to dictate!
The students of Northwind University were going crazy today! First, they hadn’t expected the school to actually livestream the exam. Second, they were even more surprised that it was Sierra demanding the papers be published.
Privately, some discussed that while it was a live exam, swapping the papers wasn’t out of the question. Honestly, they didn’t even know what the questions were about; they might not even be related to the biochemistry major. And yet, the first to propose it was Sierra herself.
Maybe the questions are easy, and she really knows them, so she wants to show off.
“So. Is the school fooling us?”
The students had various theories, but Evan, who knew the truth, first thought Sierra had lost her mind. But then… he quickly realized and looked at Sierra with admiration. She was still sharp! Knowing the papers were beyond the scope, she was forcing the school to change them.
Just as he thought this, Sierra spoke up in the livestream. “Mr. Ricky, is it so hard to choose? Then I won’t trouble you—I’ll choose for you!”
With that, she displayed the papers one by one in front of the camera, even thoughtfully adjusting the angle so everyone could see clearly.
“Anyone not in biochemistry here can explain how difficult these questions are?”
“Same here, they seem tough. Business majors completely don’t get it.”
Many from different majors flooded the chat, and after a while, a biochemistry major commented, “Don’t talk about other majors, even in my own, I can’t do these. Just saying, I’m a junior this year.”
‘Same, I can’t do most of them, and I’m in my first year of grad school!”
Initially, these comments were few, but as time went on, more and more similar comments appeared, and Northwind University’s internal network nearly crashed.
“So, am I getting this right? The questions aren’t just simple; they’re actually quite difficult?”
“Holy crap, the school’s really pulled a fast one!”
“While I also wish Sierra would just leave, isn’t this a bit much?”
