Chapter 158  Grabbing her purse, she was off.  Oratched her leave, a smile playing at the corner of his lips. “Who’s she talking about?” he mused.  Leisurely, he pulled out his phone, shooting a text to Thaddeus. [Less gossip, less hassle.]  Bright and early, Thaddeus had been bombarding him with messages.  Lemira exited the apartment building via the elevator.  Right at the entrance, she overheard a group of elderly men and women discussing, “That creep finally got caught, heard he got a good beating.”  Serves him right. If I were there, I’d have given him a couple of kicks myself. That nutcase harassed my granddaughter once.”  Hearing this, Lemira couldn’t help but beam as she hailed a cab to the gaming event.  Upon her arrival, the venue was swarmed with traffic, fans seemingly more abundant than at the playoff.  She spotted the banners of various teams, including posters of the captains. Her eyes landed on a poster of Matthew, captain of the Reapers. In her past life, during the finals, he suddenly withdrew, robbing her of the chance to face him.  Deep down, Lemira felt a tinge of regret. She believed that if he hadn’t withdrawn, SkyBlaze wouldn’t have stood a chance at winning the championship.  Even with her good skills, facing off against a top team was a different ball game.  “Hey goddess, thought you wouldn’t make it to this match.”  Jessica was decked out in Reapers merch, clearly a fan of this team.  Lemira smiled, “Wasn’t planning to, but PixelStage invited me over as a special guest. Got premium seats too. Couldn’t pass it up.”  PixelStage had handed her two tickets, so she invited Jessica to join.  Suddenly, a wave of screams from fans erupted from the roadside. Lemira looked up to see SkyBlaze’s coach rolling in.  Fans quickly surrounded it.  There, Lemira spotted Alaric leading the way and even Evelina was among the team. Seemed like Alaric really couldn’t find anyone else, resorting to Evelina as a backup.  Evelina, basking in the fans‘ attention, wore a smug expression, clearly enjoying the moment. She even received gifts from fans, brightening her mood further.  “Is your sister Lemira really sitting out today’s match?”  “Without Lemira on the team, how confident are you about today’s match?”  Alaric’s expression soured when he heard the reporters mentioned Lemira.  With a cool demeanor, he replied, “Team adjustments are normal. About this match, everyone’s going to give it their all. As for the gunner role, I have full faith in Eve. It’s not just about skill, but also the synergy among family.”  Evelina, standing by, flashed a grin, “I’ve learned from past mistakes. I’ll do my best this time.”  “Lemira’s here!” somebody shouted, and instantly, the crowd of reporters and fans shifted towards her.  Suddenly, Alaric’s side was left deserted.  A fan approached Evelina, “Sorry, this gift was meant for Goddess Lemira. I got it mixed up.”  Evelina, infuriated, tossed the gift back. She didn’t care for it anyway.  Meanwhile, Lemira hadn’t expected to be cornered by reporters. She wasn’t keen on being interviewed, especially right before the match.  But now, there was no escaping.  “Ms Langston, are you really sitting out this match?”  “Without you as the gunner, how do you rate SkyBlaze’s chances?”  Lemira glanced at Alaric and Evelina across the way, speaking calmly, “I’d say their chances are zero.”
