Chapter 173  Lemira’s gaze was ice–cold, “We’ll just see about that. Why should we apologize if we’ve done nothing wrong?”  “Oh, Lemira, you’re so naïve. So what if Dorian was the first to throw a punch? If the Dravens decide to step in, your boyfriend might as well kiss his job goodbye. That’s how the Dravens operate, get it?” Evelina’s eyes sparkled with a malicious gloat.  Thaddeus, unable to listen to it anymore, interjected, “Look here, Miss Fake Angel, aren’t you being a bit too spiteful? The Dravens aren’t the monsters you’re painting them to be. Or are you best buddies with them now? Stop slandering people, will you?”  “Of course, I’m well acquainted with the Dravens. But how would people like you, from the bottom rungs of society, understand? For the elite, squashing common folk is as easy as stepping on an ant.”  Her tone was so smug, it was as if she had already married into the Draven family.  Thaddeus was so flabbergasted he didn’t know what to say. This was outrageous! Watching as Evelina strutted away, he couldn’t help  ut mock, “Seriously, Sweet Lemon, is this how your family talks?”  “Evelina usually puts on a good front. Guess she’s gotten a bit too cocky since hooking up with Dorian, showing her true colors now.” Lemira took an unwitting glance at Orion, and said worriedly, “I’ll hire a lawyer. You won’t have to apologize.”  After all, Orion had gotten into the fray because of her. She couldn’t just abandon him.  At the sight of her anxious face, Orion’s heart softened, “Don’t worry, it’s a small matter.”  Thaddeus chimed in, “Yeah, Sweet Lemon, no need to fret. I’m here too. That punk won’t dare cause more trouble.”  Only then did Lemira remember that Thaddeus‘ family was quite affluent too. She felt a bit down, “This is all because of me. If it weren’t for me, ouch!”  She felt a knock on her forehead, which made her look up in confusion at Orion, wondering why he’d do that.  Orion’s gaze was deeply profound, “You sounded just like the fake angel there. Had to cut you off before you went down that path.”  “But…”  “But it was Dorian who wanted to hit me, not you.”  Orion was clear that she had tried to intervene, to take the hit herself. His tone was teasing, “You think your petite frame could have handled it? Don’t try to play the hero next time.”  “Exactly, Sweet Lemon. Orion can take a hit and be fine, but you’d definitely get hurt. A few scrapes on a guy are no big deal.”  Lemira hung her head, her mood somber. Now, with the whole Dorian incident, she had even forgotten the embarrassment of her failed confession earlier.  As the group left the bar and returned to their apartments, Orion glanced at her, “Don’t overthink it.”  Lemira nodded noncommittally and walked into her apartment.  Orion and Thaddeus headed to the next room. Once the door was closed, Orion coldly asked, “What’s the deal with the Dravens?” “Damn, I didn’t see it coming either. If Alaric hadn’t intervened, I’d have slapped Dorian myself, teach him some manners.” “Make sure you talk some sense into your cousin at the hospital tomorrow.”  Orion’s gaze was serious; Lemira had been down ever since they left, clearly affected by the incident.  Helpless, Thaddeus nodded, “Alright, I got it.”  Who would have thought things would turn out like this!  Back in her room, Lemira felt restless.  She knew the issue with Dorian wouldn’t just blow over. But she couldn’t let Orion suffer because of her involvement with the Dravens. Her phone rang, and as seeing the number, she recognized it should be Lucian. She hesitated before answering, “Hello, Lucian.” “Lemmy, I’ve heard about the Dorian incident. This is tricky, but Alaric and I will handle it. Stay out of it for now.
