There had been rumors of Evelina cheating during the mock exams at school, and eventually, another student was punished.  Thinking back, there were signs of Evelina’s dishonesty even then. He couldn’t believe Evelina dared to cheat on this test!  “Lucian, I, I was just passing answers to the student in front of me. She wanted to copy my work!”  In her desperation, Evelina thought of this excuse. Shifting the blame was her specialty.  Hearing this, Lemira knew exactly what the fake angel was planning. After all, the person sitting in front of Evelina was her sidekick number two.  Now, the  me scenario that had happened with sidekick number one was repeating itself.  After Evelina’s statement, she felt a surge of confidence and addressed the investigator, “The person in front of me wanted to copy my work. My grades are usually better than hers, so why would I copy from someone with lower grades?”  “So, you’re admitting to conspiring with the person in front of you to cheat?”  “I did not cheat. It was her copying me.”  L  Hope sparked in Evelina’s heart. Yes, just like last time, if she could shift the blame to sidekick number two, she would be off the hook. The person punished last time wasn’t her, after all. This time would surely be no different.  The investigator spoke coldly, “Regardless of who copied whom, both of your actions constitute cheating!”  Evelina was choked on it, her anxiety rising, “But I’m innocent.”  Lemira raised an eyebrow, “So, even though you knew cheating is wrong, you went ahead and did it, and now you claim innocence?”  Fuming, Evelina broke down in tears, turning to Asher, “Asher, you have to believe me. It was really the person in front of me trying to copy my answers.”  Asher was in a tough spot too. The video evidence was clear, making denial difficult. He said to the investigator, “We’ll hire a lawyer to handle this.”  “It doesn’t matter. We’ll proceed with the normal process anyway. We’re leaving now and will inform you of the outcome once we decide.”  Before leaving, the lead investigator glanced at Lemira, “Lemira, my daughter really admires you. She thinks you’re smart and a great gamer. Could she get your autograph to encourage her to study harder?”  “Lemira, my son also loves gaming, but it’s affecting his grades. I’ll make sure he learns from you, balancing gaming and studies.” Lemira watched as they handed her a card with her photo printed on it. She was surprised at having merchandise for fans now.
