Chapter 230  “That’s right. Scared now, huh? Better ditch that pretty boy and come apologize to Eve!”  “Apologize? In your dreams!”  Lemira wasn’t intimidated in the slightest.  Before long, the cops showed up. We can’t just watch Lemira go down the wrong path!”  Evelina put on a facade of tolerance and innocence.  After hearing the conversation, the officer coldly turned to Lemira, “Ma’am, you’re suspected of attempted assault. Please come with us for further investigation.”  Orion’s expression turned icy, “I’d like to see who would try to touch her!”  Sarcasm was written all over Asher’s face, “Pretty boy, this is Orvin. Get your facts straight!”  Orion looked unbothered, “So what?”  Lemira held his hand, and then turned to the officers, “There was indeed an assault here, but the culprit isn’t me. It’s her!”  Lemira pointed at Evelina.  Guilt crept over Evelina instantly, “W–What are you talking about? You can’t just shift the blame to avoid taking the responsibility.” No one saw what happened anyway, and nobody would believe Lemira’s word over hers!  Asher laughed exasperatedly, “So, this is your confidence, Lemira? Accusing Eve of harming you?”  Evelina’s eyes welled up with tears, “Even though I didn’t want to hold you accountable, Lemira, you’ve crossed the line.” “Isn’t it you who’s gone too far? You initiated the fight and then accidentally fell down the stairs. Now you’re playing the victim!” Evelina, feeling guilty, remained silent with her head down.  Asher angrily retorted, “Lemira, you’re a huge disappointment, denying your actions to the very end!”  “Why should I admit to something I didn’t do? Do you have proof?”  Asher questioned, “Do you have proof that Eve hit you first?”  “I do.”  Lemira chuckled, moving aside to point at the wall, “Look, there’s a camera in the hallway, which can squarely record the view of the staircase.”  Evelina’s face turned ghostly pale at the sight of the camera! Why was there a camera? Stairwells usually didn’t have cameras, what’s going on?  If they checked the footage, it was all over! Panicked, Evelina realized Lucian’s attitude towards her had already changed. Losing Asher’s trust would be the end of her.  Lemira’s gaze was icy, “Once they check the footage, the truth will out.”  Orion stood by, impressed by Lemira’s confidence. Turned out she had been prepared!  “Asher, let it go. It’s all my fault. I got hurt, but we’re family.
