Chapter 273  “What’s it, sweetheart?”  Grabbing the phone, Evelina expressed her demand.  “I need you to destroy a surveillance footage. Steal it from the police station for me!”  “Sweetheart, did you get yourself into trouble again? I can help, but you ghosting me last time really hurt my feelings.”  “Cut the chatter. Help me this time, and I’ll make it worth your while. No more ghosting, I promise.”  At her wit’s end, Evelina had no choice but to turn to this mysterious man claiming to be her father. Whether he was or wasn’t, as long as he could aid her, she was willing to use him.  “No problem, I’ll take care of it.”  ter hanging up, Evelina swiftly deleted the call history. She checked on Lucian’s breathing before dialing Asher, her voice quivering as if on the verge of tears, “Asher, it’s bad, something happened to Lucian!”  “What’s wrong? Don’t cry and calm down.”  “Lucian came to check on Lemmy, see how she’s doing at school, and they ended up fighting. Lucian fainted from anger. What should I do?”  On the other end, Evelina’s face was a masterpiece of fake tears.  Asher replied sternly, “Call the ambulance and text me the address.”  After hanging up, Evelina wiped away her tears, content with her top–notch acting skills.  As she glanced back at Lucian, her expression turned scornful. As long as that video got destroyed, nobody would believe anything Lucian said.  Especially since Asher, who currently disliked Lemira, would only trust her. She wasn’t about to give up just yet.  Meanwhile, Lemira was with Orion, heading to the police station.  “I see you’ve got a new ride? It’s different from last time,” Lemira’s mood was surprisingly light, taking a glance at the car she went in  “Just a buddy’s car!”  Lemira nodded, “So, what have you been up to these past few days in Orvin? Haven’t been chasing girls, have you?”  Orion gripped the steering wheel tighter, mumbling, “Stopped chasing.”  “Why’d you stop?” Lemira was surprised at his words, feeling somewhat delighted mixed with complex.  “Do I need a reason?” Orion coughed.  “Is it because of what happened at the bar? I’m sorry, but I know nothing really happened between us that night. I won’t hold you accountable.”  Lemira lowered her head, “Don’t be affected by it because of me.”  After the incident at the bar, she and Orion had experienced the intimacy aside from the very last step. She had secretly admired his well–defined abs – they were hard; despite his lean appearance, he was surprisingly muscular.  As Orion’s car came to a halt at a red light, he turned to Lemira. Her delicate features and cautious gaze made his originally cold heart soften in an instant.  His lips were curled up slightly, “This has nothing to do with you. It’s my decision.”  Lemira was puzzled by his words, but before she could ponder further, a van on the opposite side of the road careened towards them out of control!  In that moment, time seemed to slow down.  Lemira exclaimed, “Orion, watch out!”  Orion spotted the van, instinctively swerving the wheel to protect Lemira who was in the passenger seat, positioning her on the safer  side.  Bang!  Lemira felt as if her ears were ringing from a tremendous blast, her body nearly catapulted if not for the seatbelt that held her firmly in place.  Qazed and nauseous, Lemira felt the world spun as the aftermath of the crash enveloped them.
