Chapter 287  Lemira’s voice dripped with amusement, “How so?”  “Oh, come on, you know as well as I do that the Langstons don’t hold a candle to the Sinclairs. Ms. Sophia Sinclair, Susanna’s sister is engaged to the Everhart heir!  Do you really think the Langstons can afford to cross the Sinclairs?”  Ah, so there was a powerhouse backing them up!  Lemira laughed scornfully in response, “I’ve never been one to back down. Bring it on!”  With that, she hung up the phone. As for the fate of the Langstons, it had nothing to do with her!  Glancing at the invitation on her phone, Lemira finally left her dorm.  ving at the team’s base, she noticed the red carpet and registration table set up outside. It did look quite impressive.  “Lempira, what happened to you?”  Turning around, Lemira spotted an old acquaintance, Michel, the manager of the Reapers!  She flashed a smile, “Just a bit of a mishap.”  “I heard you didn’t make it through the Orvin Team’s evaluation. Doesn’t seem like you.”  “I had an accident right before the evaluation, missed it, not that I didn’t pass.”  Michel’s eyes lit up, “Well, good timing. You should consider joining us at Reapers. If you want to go national, I won’t stand in your way!” “I’ll think about it.” Lemira was still undecided.  “I’ve got a friend over there; let me go say hi. I’ll be back to convince you.”  With a glass of wine in hand, Michel walked away.  Lemira made her way into the hall, only to be greeted by Clara’s shrill voice, “Lemira, you’ve got some thick skin showing up here today!”  Lemira stopped in her tracks and looked at Clara, “If you can be here, why can’t I?”  “Of course I can be here, but not someone like you. This party’s invited a lot of social media influencers, to keep the standards high. So, if you’re not part of our club, you shouldn’t be here.”  Then came Jackson, striding over, “Lemira, if only you knew. If you regret it now, just kneel and apologize to me publicly!”  “Speaking of which, you lost last time and still haven’t knelt to apologize to me!”  Jackson’s face faltered, but Clara quickly jumped in, “Lemira, get lost already. I don’t even know how you sneaked in!”  Lemira snorted, “I walked in fair and square, not sneaking in.”  Clara raised her voice mockingly, “You don’t even have an invitation! How is that not sneaking?”  “Who says I don’t have an invitation?”  Hearing Lemira’s reply, Clara burst into laughter, covering her mouth.  “Jackson, Lemira actually has the nerve to claim she has an invitation. I’ve never seen anyone so shameless.”  Jackson looked down from his pedestal, “Lemira, heard you come from a poor family, I’d bet you don’t even know what an invitation looks like!”  “Yeah, where’s security? Get this shameless woman out of here!”  Clara, looking at Lemira, felt her anger was eventually vented.  The last time Lemira called her out for carrying a fake designer bag had been utterly humiliating. Today, she was determined to settle  the score.  Lemira glanced at the security, pulled up her phone, and showed them the invitation link, “Here’s my invitation!”  The security took a look and respectfully said, “My apologies for the interruption. Please, go right in!”  Clara was utterly stunned at this, “What do you mean? Lemira can’t possibly have an invitation!”  Jackson furrowed his brows, “Exactly, I’m certain that Lemira isn’t part of our club. She has no right to be here, let alone having an invitation.”
