Thaddeus stepped aside, making a welcoming gesture. “Come in, let’s put everything on hold and celebrate this brilliant woman’s stellar performance today!”

Lemira walked into the office, a smile playing on her lips. “The Langston Group just lost their bid; we’re set to win this one.”

“Lemira, that judo throw you did was absolutely badass.”

Lemira froze. “How did you know about that?”

“I wasn’t there, but I’ve got my sources.”

Lemira noticed Orion glancing her way and replied, “Been practicing boxing lately!”

Orion spoke up, “Where do you practice?”

“At the gym. I’ve bought a bunch of classes!”

Orion remembered she did mention going to the gym before, but he hadn’t realized it wasn’t just for working out. Lemira changed the subject. “Should we get our lawyers on the case with The Langston Group stealing our ideas?”

“Absolutely, but let’s also take a moment to congratulate you on becoming the youngest partner in our company!” Thaddeus handed Lemira a document. “Take a look; let me know if you have any requests regarding your new position!”

Lemira glanced at the contract. “You’re making me a partner?”

“Right, your outstanding performance has definitely caught the eye of our competitors, and I need to ensure we keep you on board!” Lemira was pleasantly surprised.

After reading through the document, she signed it without hesitation. Thaddeus then passed it to Orion. “Alright, let’s have a meeting together.”

Lemira saw Orion holding her contract, and he also stood up to join them in the conference room. He was joining the meeting too?

Orion took a seat next to Thaddeus, clearly holding a significant position. Lerhira sat with the tech team, directly across from Orion. She hadn’t expected Orion to be part of the meeting.

The team leader whispered, “Lemira, why keep staring at Mr. Everhart?”

Snapping back to reality, Lemira quickly averted her gaze, feeling her cheeks warm up slightly. She explained, “Just lost in thought for a moment.”

Lemira looked at the team leader. “You call him Mr. Everhart?”

“Yes, he’s like a consultant for the company, quite a mystery but not a shareholder. He’s got a good relationship with Mr. Draven.” Consultant?

Lemira glanced over and saw Orion casually sitting, flipping through the contract she had just signed. His long fingers rhythmically tapped on the document.

After the meeting, when everyone else had left, only the three of them remained. Lemira hesitated before speaking. “You’ve been on a business trip here; can you really afford to skip work like that?”

“I quit my job.”

Orion held her contract, his finger resting on her signature, slowly tracing over it. Why did he suddenly decide to switch jobs and come to Orvin?

It seemed like in a previous life, Orion hadn’t been a school doctor for long before he left to start a business with the Maple Group. Lemira realized Orion’s life trajectory hadn’t changed. What changed was her.

Lemira packed up and left Maple Group. But just as she reached the curb, a car pulled up, and a man in a suit stepped out. “Ms. Lemira, I’m Mr. Asher’s secretary. Regarding the incident earlier, he’s requested to have a personal discussion with you at his residence.”

A personal discussion at his home? She had no home to speak of anymore. Lemira’s lips curved into a cold smile. “I won’t be going.”

But then two more men stepped out of the car, blocking Lemira’s path. “Ms. Lemira, apologies, but you must come with us.”
