Chapter 344

Asher instantly furrowed his brow. โ€œThatโ€™s just a minor family squabble. Lemira might be mad, but joining the Reapers? Doesnโ€™t this bring shame on us? Cough, cough, cough!โ€ The excitement sparked a coughing fit in Asher, and a dull pain radiated from his lungs. It was a lingering effect from the day Lemira had thrown him over her shoulder. No bones were broken, but there was a fracture.

Evelina quickly handed him a bottle of water. โ€œAsher, calm down, youโ€™re still not healed. Weโ€™ll talk to Lemรญra later, ask her to consider the Langston familyโ€™s reputation, and not join the Reapers.โ€

Alaricโ€™s face was an impassive mask. โ€œNo need for you guys to say anything.โ€ He felt too ashamed to face Lemira now. And he didnโ€™t want to guilt-trip Lemira in the name of the Langstons!

Asher scoffed, โ€œAlaric, now youโ€™re taking Lemiraโ€™s side too, huh? Just like Lucian?โ€

โ€œAsher, the team is mine; what I say goes.โ€

Unable to bear any more, Alaric stood up and left. He wanted to clear things up with Lemira. Asher was fuming. Now everyone seemed to be siding with Lemira. Had they all forgotten what she had done?

Evelina sat nearby, her expression darkening. In the end, victory was still hers. Seeing Lemira so popular on stage, Evelina clenched her teeth in envy. Someday, sheโ€™d have Lemira under her foot.

On stage, Lemira looked at Matthew. โ€œThanks for the offer, but I decline. Next year, Iโ€™ll lead the Orvin University Team to the finals!โ€ Her eyes sparkled with confidence.

Matthew chuckled, โ€œThatโ€™s going to be a headache for us, but we wonโ€™t make it easy for you guys.โ€

โ€œThen you better watch out. New waves will always surpass the old ones!โ€ Lemiraโ€™s words were laced with challenge. The crowd started buzzing with anticipation. Could Lemiraโ€™s team really make it to the finals and take the championship next year? This was getting exciting.

After the event, Lemira stood aside, watching the Reapers on the podium, Matthew holding the championship trophy. She longed to know what it felt like to hold that trophy. It was the regret of her past life.

After the photos, Matthew walked straight to Lemira and handed her the trophy. Lemira was taken aback.

โ€œHere, feel the trophy. After all, next yearโ€™s trophy will still be ours.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ll see about that.โ€ Lemira laughed, holding the trophy close, feeling waves of emotion. This was the regret of her past life.

Taking out her phone for a selfie, Matthew leaned in, โ€œLetโ€™s take one together, and exchange contacts. We should keep in touch.โ€ He wanted to get on good terms with his brotherโ€™s girlfriend! If he ever retired without a job or money, heโ€™d need her to hand out some pocket money, considering how stingy his brother was!

Lemira looked up at Matthew and nodded. She was curious if he was the person she thought he was and decided to ask.

As they exchanged contacts, Matthewโ€™s phone rang. He answered, โ€œBro, youโ€™re here, huh? Did you see my awesome performance?โ€

โ€œStop fooling around outside and come in!โ€

โ€œOkay, coming.โ€ Orion hung up, his gaze lingering on Lemira and Matthew standing together outside.

10:51

Thaddeus clicked his tongue, โ€œThose two look so good togetherโ€”itโ€™s such a treat to see.โ€ Crionโ€™s lips twitched, feeling a bit stung.

Outside, Lemira handed the trophy back to Matthew. โ€œThanks.โ€

โ€œMy brother, I mean Orion, and Thad are also here. You hold onto the trophy for now; Iโ€™ll go talk to the coach.โ€ Lemira remembered the unflattering photo Orion had sent her. She still needed to make sure he deleted it.

Holding the trophy, she went backstage, where it was quieter away from the photo ops. Passing through a corridor, she overheard voices from the Langstons. More precisely, Alaricโ€™s voice, filled with anger and grief.

โ€œAsher, it was Evelina who secretly filmed Lemiraโ€™s computer, not me. Why should I take the blame?โ€

โ€˜As the older brother, if itโ€™s down to choosing one to take the fall, it should be you.โ€ That was Asherโ€™s voice.

Lemira approached, a smirk on her lips. โ€˜Oh, what do we have here? The loving, inseparable family deciding who goes to jail?โ€ Was there an internal feud brewing?
