Chapter 362

She was at her lowest, fainting from hunger on the streets. It was then that a stranger stepped in, handed her a card full of cashโ€”a lifelineโ€”urging her to start anew, far from the life that had beaten her down. But hatred for Evelina consumed her. Blaming Evelina for her misfortunes, she plotted revenge with the very money meant to save her, aiming to kidnap and end Evelinaโ€™s life. Her plan, however, backfired miserably, landing her in a mental institution under Asherโ€™s orders, where she met her demise due to the cruelty of a caretaker arranged by Evelina herself.

โ€œWhat a foolish end,โ€ she thought. โ€œShe shouldโ€™ve walked away.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re gonna get hurt doing that.โ€

Lemira swung a punch that was easily blocked by Orion. Panting and drenched in sweat, she paused. โ€œHow did you find me here?โ€

Orion handed her a bottle of water. โ€œCanโ€™t I hit the gym?โ€

โ€œWhy this gym, though?โ€ Lemira questioned, taking a sip and dabbing at the sweat threatening to sting her eyes.

Catching her blinking away the sweat, Orion used his towel to dab at her forehead. โ€œStay still.โ€

Lemira froze, noticing their shadows merge on the floor. Orion chuckled, draping the towel over her head. โ€œYou look like a grandma!โ€

Lemira, unamused, yanked the towel off.

โ€œWhatโ€™s got you down?โ€ Orion asked, sensing her off mood as she took her frustrations out on the punching bag. โ€œWas it because of what that guy said to you yesterday?โ€ he probed, knowing there was more to her gloom than a simple verbal spat. Lemira shook her head, dismissing the notion. Strangersโ€™ words never fazed her. It was something deeper, something tied to her second chance at life and Matthew, but how could she explain that?

โ€œJust a lot going on, feeling a bit overwhelmed,โ€ she finally admitted.

Orion didnโ€™t press further, standing up. โ€œLet me help you blow off some steam.โ€

โ€œBut youโ€™re injured,โ€ she instinctively glanced at his arm, covered that day by a long-sleeved shirt.

โ€œWanna see?โ€ Orion teased, starting to unbutton his shirt to reveal his collarbone.

Lemira stopped him, flustered. โ€œWhat are you doing? Who asked you to strip?โ€

โ€œHow else will you see?โ€ he teased further, enjoying her discomfort.

โ€œGo change, and Iโ€™ll see it then,โ€ she retorted, the room still warm from the late summer heat.

Orion smirked. โ€œJust kidding. Youโ€™d have to pay to see me strip.โ€

โ€œAnd how much would that cost?โ€ she played along, despite the heat in her cheeks.

โ€œFor you? Free. Want to take up the offer?โ€ he flirted, causing her to turn away. โ€œAs if Iโ€™d want to.โ€

She couldnโ€™t help but admit, in jest, she stood no chance against him. Relieved to see her spirits lifted, Orion headed to change.

In the locker room, he was bombarded with a call from Matthew, discussing trivial matters until Orion grew impatient. โ€œGet to the point or Iโ€™m hanging up.โ€

โ€œBro, donโ€™t hang up. Did she make any requests?โ€ Matthew hesitated, hinting at a concern for Lemira.

Orion played along. โ€œShe might have.โ€

โ€œMan, you canโ€™t side with her against your own brother!โ€ Matthew protested, worried Orion might withdraw from a competition for Lemiraโ€™s sake.

โ€œWhat did she say to you?โ€

Matthew quickly caught on. โ€œBro, you set me up!โ€

The manโ€™s tone turned serious. โ€œSay it!โ€

Must have something to do with Lemira being in a bad mood today!
