Chapter 374

Gotta figure out who on earth hired Mr. Alfred. Could it be something to do with the Everhart family?

Outside, Lemira stood by the window, catching a breath of fresh air.

โ€œDonโ€™t beat yourself up, Lemira. After all, word has spread through Orvinโ€™s legal circles. No oneโ€™s going to take on your case. Thatโ€™s just reality.โ€

Evelina strolled in fashionably late, Dorian in tow. They were clearly here for the spectacle. Lemira turned her head, catching sight of Evelinaโ€™s overly done-up appearance, her lips twitching in response. Evelina now wore heavy makeup and a form-fitting dress, a far cry from her previously demure look.

Dorian, wrapping his arm around Evelinaโ€™s waist, boasted to Lemira, โ€œTold you, Lemira, this is Orvin. You gotta play by our rules here. You canโ€™t beat us.โ€

โ€œYeah, Lemira, you might as well drop the lawsuit. Save yourself the embarrassment of a crushing defeat.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s face was etched with sarcasm. โ€œWho said Iโ€™m dropping the lawsuit?โ€

โ€œYou canโ€™t even find a lawyer. Refusing to withdraw will only lead to humiliation!โ€

Evelina had barely finished speaking when Mr. Alfred approached. Dorianโ€™s eyes lit up at the sight. โ€œMr. Alfred, what brings you here? Does the Everhart family have some case?โ€

Mr. Alfred responded politely, โ€œNot really, just here on someoneโ€™s behalf to handle a case.โ€

Seeing Dorianโ€™s respectful demeanor toward the attorney, Evelina whispered, โ€œWho is he?โ€

โ€œMr. Alfred is basically the grim reaper of the legal world, now the chief counsel for the Everharts. Itโ€™s rare to see him taking on cases these days. Meeting Mr. Alfred here is quite uncommon.โ€

Evelinaโ€™s face showed surprise, realizing they were in the presence of such a renowned lawyer, and connected to the Everhart family no less.

Lemira turned and handed her documents to Mr. Alfred. โ€œHereโ€™s the information Iโ€™ve compiled. Please have a look.โ€ After all, she hadnโ€™t known it would be Mr. Alfred taking the case. Seems Thaddeus has quite the influence.

Evelina slapped the documents out of Lemiraโ€™s hands. โ€œLemira, have you no shame? Hearing heโ€™s a renowned attorney and you just shove your papers at him. Donโ€™t drag our Langstonsโ€™ name through the mud, will you?โ€

The documents scattered across the floor.

Dorian sneered. โ€œLemira, I get youโ€™re desperate for a lawyer, but you really think Mr. Alfred would take your petty case? Donโ€™t make us laugh.โ€

Evelina was about to lay into her further when she spotted Asher and his group emerging. Quickly changing her demeanor, Evelina said, โ€œLemmy, I know youโ€™re anxious to win your case, but you canโ€™t just force Mr. Alfred to take your minor lawsuit. He doesnโ€™t even know you. Itโ€™s quite impolite.โ€

Lemiraโ€™s response was a swift slap. โ€œThe impolite one is you!โ€ Thinking youโ€™re entitled, huh?

Evelina, unexpectedly slapped, twisted her face in shock, then immediately dove into Dorianโ€™s arms, shedding tears.

Dorian instantly became protective. โ€œLemira, how dare you strike her in public? Do you not realize this is a courthouse?โ€

Asher approached. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on here?โ€

Evelina, tears in her eyes: โ€œAsher, donโ€™t be too hard on Lemmy. I know sheโ€™s desperate to win her case, pushing her documents on Mr. Alfred, hoping the top lawyer would take her case. I tried to stop her kindly, but she attacked me.โ€ Evelina, while pleading not to blame Lemira, deliberately exposed her slapped cheek.

Asher, seeing the slap mark, turned to strike Lemira. โ€œLook at what youโ€™ve done!โ€

Lemira countered Asherโ€™s hand with a punch, causing him to break into a cold sweat from the pain.

Evelina stepped forward. โ€œLemira, what are you doingโ€ฆ Ah!โ€

Lemira slapped Evelina again, utterly fed up. โ€œYouโ€™re standing on my documents. Get lost if you donโ€™t want trouble!โ€

Evelinaโ€™s face swelled up instantly, her scream piercing, โ€œLemira, it was you who shamelessly handed your documents to the top lawyer. Youโ€™re the shameless one!โ€

Mr. Alfred adjusted his glasses. โ€œActually, Iโ€™m here as her representing attorney.โ€
