Gotta figure out who on earth hired Mr. Alfred. Could it be something to do with the Everhart family?

Outside, Lemira stood by the window, catching a breath of fresh air.

“Don’t beat yourself up, Lemira. After all, word has spread through Orvin’s legal circles. No one’s going to take on your case. That’s just reality.”

Evelina strolled in fashionably late, Dorian in tow. They were clearly here for the spectacle. Lemira turned her head, catching sight of Evelina’s overly done-up appearance, her lips twitching in response. Evelina now wore heavy makeup and a form-fitting dress, a far cry from her previously demure look.

Dorian, wrapping his arm around Evelina’s waist, boasted to Lemira, “Told you, Lemira, this is Orvin. You gotta play by our rules here. You can’t beat us.”

“Yeah, Lemira, you might as well drop the lawsuit. Save yourself the embarrassment of a crushing defeat.”

Lemira’s face was etched with sarcasm. “Who said I’m dropping the lawsuit?”

“You can’t even find a lawyer. Refusing to withdraw will only lead to humiliation!”

Evelina had barely finished speaking when Mr. Alfred approached. Dorian’s eyes lit up at the sight. “Mr. Alfred, what brings you here? Does the Everhart family have some case?”

Mr. Alfred responded politely, “Not really, just here on someone’s behalf to handle a case.”

Seeing Dorian’s respectful demeanor toward the attorney, Evelina whispered, “Who is he?”

“Mr. Alfred is basically the grim reaper of the legal world, now the chief counsel for the Everharts. It’s rare to see him taking on cases these days. Meeting Mr. Alfred here is quite uncommon.”

Evelina’s face showed surprise, realizing they were in the presence of such a renowned lawyer, and connected to the Everhart family no less.

Lemira turned and handed her documents to Mr. Alfred. “Here’s the information I’ve compiled. Please have a look.” After all, she hadn’t known it would be Mr. Alfred taking the case. Seems Thaddeus has quite the influence.

Evelina slapped the documents out of Lemira’s hands. “Lemira, have you no shame? Hearing he’s a renowned attorney and you just shove your papers at him. Don’t drag our Langstons’ name through the mud, will you?”

The documents scattered across the floor.

Dorian sneered. “Lemira, I get you’re desperate for a lawyer, but you really think Mr. Alfred would take your petty case? Don’t make us laugh.”

Evelina was about to lay into her further when she spotted Asher and his group emerging. Quickly changing her demeanor, Evelina said, “Lemmy, I know you’re anxious to win your case, but you can’t just force Mr. Alfred to take your minor lawsuit. He doesn’t even know you. It’s quite impolite.”

Lemira’s response was a swift slap. “The impolite one is you!” Thinking you’re entitled, huh?

Evelina, unexpectedly slapped, twisted her face in shock, then immediately dove into Dorian’s arms, shedding tears.

Dorian instantly became protective. “Lemira, how dare you strike her in public? Do you not realize this is a courthouse?”

Asher approached. “What’s going on here?”

Evelina, tears in her eyes: “Asher, don’t be too hard on Lemmy. I know she’s desperate to win her case, pushing her documents on Mr. Alfred, hoping the top lawyer would take her case. I tried to stop her kindly, but she attacked me.” Evelina, while pleading not to blame Lemira, deliberately exposed her slapped cheek.

Asher, seeing the slap mark, turned to strike Lemira. “Look at what you’ve done!”

Lemira countered Asher’s hand with a punch, causing him to break into a cold sweat from the pain.

Evelina stepped forward. “Lemira, what are you doing… Ah!”

Lemira slapped Evelina again, utterly fed up. “You’re standing on my documents. Get lost if you don’t want trouble!”

Evelina’s face swelled up instantly, her scream piercing, “Lemira, it was you who shamelessly handed your documents to the top lawyer. You’re the shameless one!”

Mr. Alfred adjusted his glasses. “Actually, I’m here as her representing attorney.”
