Chapter 413

Lemira couldnโ€™t believe her eyes when she saw Caspian raise his hand to Evelina. Caspian, hitting Evelina? She remembered how Caspian always treated Evelina with respect, always making Lemira follow Evelina around like an assistant. Even when Lemira had a โ€œrebirth momentโ€ and ended up in the doctorโ€™s office after a spat with Evelina at school, Caspian rushed over and, without asking any questions, blamed her, even going so far as to slap her.

Why the sudden change of heart? Lemira wasnโ€™t pleased; she just thought Caspian had gone off the deep end, even more so now. Tears welled up in Evelinaโ€™s eyes, shocked that Caspian would ever lay a hand on her.

Caspian spoke coldly, โ€œI told you to apologize, didnโ€™t you hear? Cut the crap!โ€

It was then Evelina spoke up, her voice quivering with tears, โ€œLemmy, itโ€™s all my fault. I shouldnโ€™t have stolen your ideas out of spite, nor should I have convinced Alaric and Asher to slander you.โ€

Hearing Evelinaโ€™s so-called apology, Lemira felt nothing stirring in her heart. Caspian, however, looked at Lemira with a softer tone, โ€œI watched that video too. Itโ€™s clearly Evelinaโ€™s fault, not yours.โ€

Lemira scoffed at the absurdity, โ€œIs that all you wanted to say?โ€

โ€œLemira, Iโ€™ve explained everything, and even had Eve apologize. You canโ€™t keep holding a grudge; otherwise, itโ€™ll just cause more trouble at home.โ€

Caspianโ€™s words seemed part plea, part threat. Lemira raised an eyebrow, โ€œIโ€™ve never been holding any grudge. Why should I return to a home that treats me poorly?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re right. Iโ€™ll have a word with Asher about this, donโ€™t worry.โ€

After saying his piece, Caspian dismissively waved his hand, โ€œDidnโ€™t you have dinner plans with your classmates? Off you go.โ€

Lemira didnโ€™t look back as she walked away. Caspianโ€™s smile cooled as he turned to Evelina, โ€œHave I ever been unfair to you? I despise liars the most, got it?โ€ โ€œI got it, Iโ€™ll never dare again.โ€

Chapter 41

Evelina fought back tears, now fully remembering what kind of person Caspian really was. All these years of kindness had almost made her forget his temper. She had thought her little scheme at the party last night would work, only to have it fall apart today.

Caspianโ€™s tone softened considerably, โ€œGo put some ice on that cheek. Iโ€™ll find you a role in the new movie. Hereโ€™s the script, take a good look.โ€

โ€œThank you, Caspian.โ€

Evelinaโ€™s eyes lit up with surprise upon seeing the script. โ€œItโ€™s nothing. After all, I havenโ€™t forgotten who rallied the troops when I was cornered by enemies. It was you.โ€

Evelina quickly lowered her gaze to hide her guilt. In truth, it was Lemira who had called for help. But she could never admit that now. Caspian had never really liked her, the outsider sister, until after that incident. And she would never reveal this secret. Everything she had now, she believed, was rightfully hers.

Stepping out of the car, Lemira finally breathed in the fresh air. Glancing back at the vehicle, her gaze hardened. She wouldnโ€™t let this situation last much longer. If it werenโ€™t for worrying Caspian would trouble her classmate Jessica, she wouldnโ€™t have played along with his charade.

After dinner, Lemira sent Jessica home and returned to her dorm. Janice informed her, โ€œCaspianโ€™s school visit and your interview went up on Twitter.โ€

Lemira checked it out. Caspianโ€™s video title: [Let me introduce you to my sister, the โ€˜drama queen.โ€™] The video had garnered Caspian a lot of sympathy, even earning him the tag of a doting brother.

Janice hesitated before adding, โ€œThe actor competing with Caspian for the Best Actor award recently got exposed by an ex-girlfriend for domestic abuse. Caspianโ€™s timing with this video is impeccable, and the content is cleverly chosen.โ€

Lemira smirked sarcastically, โ€œYeah, Caspian never makes a losing deal.โ€ This move not only explained the bruises but also discredited his rival and improved his public image. And it even forced her to compromise.
