Chapter 413
Lemira couldnโt believe her eyes when she saw Caspian raise his hand to Evelina. Caspian, hitting Evelina? She remembered how Caspian always treated Evelina with respect, always making Lemira follow Evelina around like an assistant. Even when Lemira had a โrebirth momentโ and ended up in the doctorโs office after a spat with Evelina at school, Caspian rushed over and, without asking any questions, blamed her, even going so far as to slap her.
Why the sudden change of heart? Lemira wasnโt pleased; she just thought Caspian had gone off the deep end, even more so now. Tears welled up in Evelinaโs eyes, shocked that Caspian would ever lay a hand on her.
Caspian spoke coldly, โI told you to apologize, didnโt you hear? Cut the crap!โ
It was then Evelina spoke up, her voice quivering with tears, โLemmy, itโs all my fault. I shouldnโt have stolen your ideas out of spite, nor should I have convinced Alaric and Asher to slander you.โ
Hearing Evelinaโs so-called apology, Lemira felt nothing stirring in her heart. Caspian, however, looked at Lemira with a softer tone, โI watched that video too. Itโs clearly Evelinaโs fault, not yours.โ
Lemira scoffed at the absurdity, โIs that all you wanted to say?โ
โLemira, Iโve explained everything, and even had Eve apologize. You canโt keep holding a grudge; otherwise, itโll just cause more trouble at home.โ
Caspianโs words seemed part plea, part threat. Lemira raised an eyebrow, โIโve never been holding any grudge. Why should I return to a home that treats me poorly?โ
โYouโre right. Iโll have a word with Asher about this, donโt worry.โ
After saying his piece, Caspian dismissively waved his hand, โDidnโt you have dinner plans with your classmates? Off you go.โ
Lemira didnโt look back as she walked away. Caspianโs smile cooled as he turned to Evelina, โHave I ever been unfair to you? I despise liars the most, got it?โ โI got it, Iโll never dare again.โ
Chapter 41
Evelina fought back tears, now fully remembering what kind of person Caspian really was. All these years of kindness had almost made her forget his temper. She had thought her little scheme at the party last night would work, only to have it fall apart today.
Caspianโs tone softened considerably, โGo put some ice on that cheek. Iโll find you a role in the new movie. Hereโs the script, take a good look.โ
โThank you, Caspian.โ
Evelinaโs eyes lit up with surprise upon seeing the script. โItโs nothing. After all, I havenโt forgotten who rallied the troops when I was cornered by enemies. It was you.โ
Evelina quickly lowered her gaze to hide her guilt. In truth, it was Lemira who had called for help. But she could never admit that now. Caspian had never really liked her, the outsider sister, until after that incident. And she would never reveal this secret. Everything she had now, she believed, was rightfully hers.
Stepping out of the car, Lemira finally breathed in the fresh air. Glancing back at the vehicle, her gaze hardened. She wouldnโt let this situation last much longer. If it werenโt for worrying Caspian would trouble her classmate Jessica, she wouldnโt have played along with his charade.
After dinner, Lemira sent Jessica home and returned to her dorm. Janice informed her, โCaspianโs school visit and your interview went up on Twitter.โ
Lemira checked it out. Caspianโs video title: [Let me introduce you to my sister, the โdrama queen.โ] The video had garnered Caspian a lot of sympathy, even earning him the tag of a doting brother.
Janice hesitated before adding, โThe actor competing with Caspian for the Best Actor award recently got exposed by an ex-girlfriend for domestic abuse. Caspianโs timing with this video is impeccable, and the content is cleverly chosen.โ
Lemira smirked sarcastically, โYeah, Caspian never makes a losing deal.โ This move not only explained the bruises but also discredited his rival and improved his public image. And it even forced her to compromise.
