Chapter 420

โ€œIf the person inside the car wasnโ€™t driving, then who was?โ€

Itโ€™s the driver whoโ€™s supposed to be at fault for running a red light.

Lucian nodded. โ€œYouโ€™re not wrong. But the fact that the guy ran away makes me doubt. Why would he run if he wasnโ€™t driving?โ€

Lemira found herself agreeing. Why run unless youโ€™ve got something to hide?

Frowning, Lemira said, โ€œBut I canโ€™t remember anything from that night, and I have no clue if the culprit was the driver. Are you all disappointed in me?โ€

It was her birthday, and her parents had forgotten to buy a cake. So, she threw a fit about wanting cake, leading her parents to take a newly opened shortcut to save time, which then led to the accident.

โ€œIndeed, we are disappointed,โ€

Asher pushed open the hospital room door and entered, followed by Caspian and Alaric.

Lucianโ€™s expression changed. โ€œAsher, what are you doing here?โ€

โ€œLucky I came, or else how would I know Lemira has the audacity to ask such questions?โ€

Asher glared at Lemira coldly. โ€œCaspian let it slip, and you think catching the culprit will absolve you? Will it bring our parents back?โ€

Tears welled up in Lemiraโ€™s eyes instantly.

Stepping in front of Lemira, Lucian said, โ€œAsher, thatโ€™s too harsh. She was just a kid; how is any of this her fault?โ€

โ€œYeah, Asher, Lemira might be a bit rebellious now, but if we guide her, sheโ€™ll understand,โ€ Caspian chimed in, trying to smooth things over. โ€œNo matter what, we can surely teach her.โ€

โ€œHmph, I canโ€™t teach her. Sheโ€™s grown too big for her boots now,โ€ Asher retorted with sarcasm.

Caspian looked at Lemira with a half-smile. โ€œYouโ€™re at fault here. Back then, you made such a big mistake, and we all covered for you, bearing this pain. Asher moved to Orvin to track down the culprit, but what did you do? You nearly bankrupted Asherโ€™s company!โ€

Lemira fought back her tears. She looked at Caspian. โ€œIt wasnโ€™t me forcing them into illegal activities. How can that be my fault?โ€

โ€œI know, it was wrong of Alaric and Evelina. We made Evelina apologize already, now itโ€™s Alaricโ€™s turn. Weโ€™re a family; shouldnโ€™t we stand united in Orvin, find the culprit, and avenge our parents?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll handle revenge on my own. I canโ€™t decide on suing.โ€

Lemira knew why Caspian was saying all this. She wouldnโ€™t fall for it.

Caspian sighed, turning to Alaric. โ€œNot to blame you, but you believed Evelinaโ€™s bad ideas. Serves you right for taking the fall.โ€

Alaric remained silent.

But Asher was annoyed. โ€œWhat do you mean by that, Caspian? Evelina is still young, and her father died trying to save our parents. You canโ€™t expect Evelina to go to jail, right?โ€

Chapter 42

โ€œAsher, youโ€™re too prideful. Youโ€™re already repaying Evelina by treating her well all these years. Donโ€™t forget Lemira is our sister. Evelina has been playing us, and she deserves a lesson.โ€

Caspian had seen the footage, realizing Evelina was that scheming. If Evelina hadnโ€™t saved his life once, he wouldโ€™ve kicked her out of the Langston family by now.

Asher frowned. โ€œNo, weโ€™ve already decided to let Alaric take the fall.โ€

Caspian turned back to Alaric. โ€œSay something, man. Bail isnโ€™t going to last forever. Speak now or itโ€™ll be too late.โ€

Finally, Alaric looked up, meeting Lemiraโ€™s gaze. After losing everything, Alaric realized just howโ€ฆ
