Chapter 431
Lemira glared at Caspian across the room, their eyes locking like sworn enemies. Caspian sneered, โYou might have forgotten, but itโs etched in my memory forever.โ
โBecause Iโve done nothing wrong, my conscience is clear!โ Lemira was adamant. She had always been compliant with Caspian, never once defying her brother. How could she possibly have betrayed him?
Evelina, overhearing the conversation, panicked. She couldnโt let Caspian spill the beans. What would she do then?
Rushing over, Evelina grabbed Caspianโs arm. โCaspian, this isnโt the time to hash this out. We need to figure out how to smooth this over. Itโs all over social media.โ
Caspian couldnโt afford a scandal, not until Evelina had successfully infiltrated the entertainment world.
โYouโre right,โ Caspian conceded. The immediate issue was to manage the crisis. He immediately called his agent. โHire the best PR firm around, ASAP. We need to handle this now.โ
The agent was frantic. โIโve already got the Everhart familyโs top PR firm on it. Theyโll be here any minute. Iโm sure theyโll sort this out quickly.โ
โWeโll just say Lemira and I were rehearsing a scene. The livestream was just an early surprise we planned for the fans,โ Caspian explained, his gaze then turning icy as he looked at Lemira. โYou think your little trick will work? Dream on.โ
Evelina was elated. โExactly, just say it was a rehearsal. After all, Lemira being a newbie and you, Caspian, giving her private lessons is totally plausible.โ
That would cover their tracks.
After hanging up, Caspian menacingly turned to Lemira. โNow that weโre off-air, how do you suppose I repay you for this โgiftโ?โ
Evelina suggested, โMaybe just a small lesson, Caspian. But donโt go too far; we donโt want to have to explain serious injuries to the media.โ
Worried Caspian might lose his temper and go overboard, Evelina knew if Lemira got seriously hurt, explaining it as just a rehearsal gone wrong to the media would be impossible.
Caspian shoved Evelina aside, his anger palpable. โSince when do you give orders?โ
Evelina crashed to the floor, wincing in pain. Caspian was unpredictable, a loose cannon.
Approaching Lemira with a chilling glare, he hissed, โChoose your fate.โ
Lemira struck back with a punch and a swift kick, sending Caspian flying. She wasnโt about to wait around and be a victim.
After being kicked, Caspianโs face twisted in pain. โGrab her! Lemira, youโve done it now. Youโve really pissed me off.โ
Lemira pulled out pepper spray from her bag, spraying it at the approaching thugs.
Soon, police sirens wailed outside.
Caspian sat up quickly. โYou called the cops?โ
Lemira was surprised herself; she hadnโt had the chance to call them, but she wasnโt about to admit that. โNow, you might want to think about how youโre going to explain this to them.โ
Realizing the gravity of the situation too late, Caspian should have left earlier to avoid the police blockade. He grabbed Evelinaโs hand. โStall them for me, will you?โ
Chapter 432
โI got it, Caspian. Just go.โ
The last thing Evelina wanted was for Caspian to get into trouble.
Helped up by his thugs, Caspian limped away, but not before threatening Lemira, โThis isnโt over. I wonโt be so gentle next time.โ
Lemira retorted with a cold laugh, โSame goes for you.โ
Watching Caspian retreat, she finally allowed herself to sit, feeling the pain ripple through her. โDamn, that hurts.โ
Seeing Caspian trying to sneak away, she pointed him out to the incoming officers. โHeโs over there, trying to get away.โ
Caspian and his thugs took an alternate route, only to accidentally tumble into an abandoned sewer.
Hearing Caspianโs screams, Lemira felt a wave of relief, her own pain momentarily forgotten.
