Caspian flashed a bitter smile. “I know.”

Beside him, Evelina’s face turned ghostly pale. “Caspian, I didn’t show you any recorded video, okay? The cops checked everything. There’s nothing on my phone.”

Even if Caspian knew, without proof, he couldn’t touch her. It was all because Caspian hated Lemira too much.

Caspian fixed his gaze on Evelina. “If I turn myself in, you won’t escape either.”

“No, Caspian, you can’t confess.”

Asher stepped in front of Caspian. “If you confess, what about the plan we had? Alaric’s already in ruins; I can’t let you get destroyed too.”

“Asher, you can’t stop me.”

“I have to try.”

Asher had his men circle Caspian. He then turned to Lemira. “Since you said I saved you back then, you owe me one.”

Lemira’s reply was laced with sarcasm. “So what?”

“I have only one request—that you spare Caspian this time and claim that the livestream was just a rehearsal.” Hearing this, Lemira felt a heavy weight press on her heart, a burden she could never shake off.

Orion took Lemira’s hand, his tone icy. “From what I know, Lemira did so much for the Langston family, including writing the firewall for the Langston Group, without asking for a dime. You owe her a lot.”

“Let’s keep matters separate. If I hadn’t arrived in time, we all know what would have happened to Lemira at the hands of those thugs.”

Asher pressed Lemira. “You know that better than anyone, right?”

Lemira bit her lip hard. Yes, she couldn’t deny it.

Orion stepped in front of Lemira, shielding her from Asher’s aggressive gaze. “Mr. Asher, she was so young back then, taking risks for your brother. Ultimately, it’s Caspian who owes you.”

Asher didn’t bite. He looked past Orion at Lemira. “Regardless, I saved you. You owe me!”

Orion cut him off. “Never seen a family as shameless as the Langstons.”

With that, he walked away with Lemira, refusing to let her be morally blackmailed.

Caspian watched Lemira leave, his anger peaking. This was all Evelina’s fault.

Asher spoke to Caspian. “I’ll go to the police station. You stay put.”

Caspian’s tone was even. “Fine, but I’d like to have a word with Evelina.”

“No, Asher, I’ll go with you.”

Evelina didn’t want to be left alone with Caspian. She feared for her life.

Asher hesitated. “Eve, you played a part in what happened. Just apologize to Caspian, and we’re good.”

Ignoring Evelina’s plea for help, Asher and his entourage headed to the station.

Asher’s lawyer spoke up. “Boss, it’s obvious Miss Evelina also lied. Why are you covering for her, letting Ms. Lemira suffer?”

“I don’t need your advice on how to handle things.”

He knew Evelina hadn’t been truthful and deserved a lesson. But he couldn’t let Caspian’s reputation be ruined. So what if Ms. Langston, Lemira, had to suffer a bit?

Outside, Caspian dragged Evelina to his car, her face a mask of terror. He gripped her throat, his voice menacing. “You have two choices. Either I kill you right here, or you go and kneel before Lemira, begging for her forgiveness!”
