Chapter 455
Caspian gripped Evelinaโs hair mercilessly, his fingers entangling in her locks as if they were vines he was determined to uproot. Evelinaโs tears streamed down her face. โI was all bruised up yesterday. If I had gone to see Lemira and the paparazzi caught that, the stories theyโd spinโฆ I just wanted to wait until the bruises healed a bit.โ
โYouโre lying. You couldโve snuck off to a clinic without the media sniffing around. You just didnโt want to, did you? Trying to drive a wedge between me and Lemira, arenโt you?โ Caspianโs anger boiled over, and he slapped Evelina across the face.
The pain made Evelina see stars, her legs nearly giving out beneath her. She quickly sought refuge next to Lucian, her eyes pleading. โLucian, I really do realize my mistake. Iโll explain everything to Lemira and get her forgiveness.โ
But Caspian, far from satisfied, pulled Evelina back and kicked her, sending her tumbling to the floor. Lucian couldnโt stand by any longer. โCaspian, stop it. Do you want to kill her?โ
Caspianโs face, bandaged from some prior mishap, bore a chilling expression. โShe deserves it. If it werenโt for this deceitful woman lying and causing strife between me and Lemira, we wouldnโt be in this mess!โ
Caspian had been restless, tormented by the thought of having misunderstood Lemira. The guilt was eating him up. Evelina shrank back, deliberately showing Lucian the bruises on her face. Seeing the marks, Lucian frowned. โCaspian, arenโt you at fault here too? You didnโt trust Lemmy enough.โ
โIf you thought Lemira had abandoned you, youโd be just as furious,โ Caspian retorted, his face a mask of unease, unwilling to admit his own mistake. He was convinced Evelina had tricked him. โI want you to apologize right now. Do you hear me? Or Iโll deal with you myself!โ
Evelina nodded hastily. โIโll go apologize to Lemira.โ
โNot just apologize. You need her forgiveness. Even if Lemira asks you to kneel and polish her shoes, youโll do it,โ Caspian demanded.
Head bowed, Evelina whispered a response. โIโll find a way. But I came here to bring you guys some food. Iโve cooked everything myself, especially for Lucian since I heard heโs been having stomach troubles. Iโve made a special chicken soup, similar to what Lemira used to make.โ
Struggling to her feet, Evelina carefully handed the soup to Lucian. โLucian, I heard about your stomach issues. This took me a while to get right, trying to match Lemiraโs recipe as closely as I could. Please, try it.โ
Initially reluctant, Lucianโs curiosity got the better of him after seeing Evelinaโs condition and remembering Lemiraโs soup he hadnโt tasted in ages. Taking a sip, he found it surprisingly similar.
โHow is it?โ Evelina asked timidly.
โItโs okay, not quite Lemiraโs, but itโs a decent attempt,โ Lucian admitted, his tone softening.
โI know it canโt compare, but I wanted to make amends somehow,โ Evelina said, her voice strained with pain.
Lucian, a bit moved by her effort, advised, โThen go make things right with Lemmy. Cut out those old tricks, or youโll find yourself unwelcome in the Langston family.โ
โI understand. This is all on me, not Caspian,โ Evelina took all the blame upon herself.

Hearing this, Caspianโs mood improved slightly. โAt least youโre aware. You, a chauffeurโs daughter, have been living like a princess among the Langstons. We owe you nothing. If you pull any more stunts, Iโll have you thrown out of the Langston family!โ
