Chapter 455

Caspian gripped Evelinaโ€™s hair mercilessly, his fingers entangling in her locks as if they were vines he was determined to uproot. Evelinaโ€™s tears streamed down her face. โ€œI was all bruised up yesterday. If I had gone to see Lemira and the paparazzi caught that, the stories theyโ€™d spinโ€ฆ I just wanted to wait until the bruises healed a bit.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re lying. You couldโ€™ve snuck off to a clinic without the media sniffing around. You just didnโ€™t want to, did you? Trying to drive a wedge between me and Lemira, arenโ€™t you?โ€ Caspianโ€™s anger boiled over, and he slapped Evelina across the face.

The pain made Evelina see stars, her legs nearly giving out beneath her. She quickly sought refuge next to Lucian, her eyes pleading. โ€œLucian, I really do realize my mistake. Iโ€™ll explain everything to Lemira and get her forgiveness.โ€

But Caspian, far from satisfied, pulled Evelina back and kicked her, sending her tumbling to the floor. Lucian couldnโ€™t stand by any longer. โ€œCaspian, stop it. Do you want to kill her?โ€

Caspianโ€™s face, bandaged from some prior mishap, bore a chilling expression. โ€œShe deserves it. If it werenโ€™t for this deceitful woman lying and causing strife between me and Lemira, we wouldnโ€™t be in this mess!โ€

Caspian had been restless, tormented by the thought of having misunderstood Lemira. The guilt was eating him up. Evelina shrank back, deliberately showing Lucian the bruises on her face. Seeing the marks, Lucian frowned. โ€œCaspian, arenโ€™t you at fault here too? You didnโ€™t trust Lemmy enough.โ€

โ€œIf you thought Lemira had abandoned you, youโ€™d be just as furious,โ€ Caspian retorted, his face a mask of unease, unwilling to admit his own mistake. He was convinced Evelina had tricked him. โ€œI want you to apologize right now. Do you hear me? Or Iโ€™ll deal with you myself!โ€

Evelina nodded hastily. โ€œIโ€™ll go apologize to Lemira.โ€

โ€œNot just apologize. You need her forgiveness. Even if Lemira asks you to kneel and polish her shoes, youโ€™ll do it,โ€ Caspian demanded.

Head bowed, Evelina whispered a response. โ€œIโ€™ll find a way. But I came here to bring you guys some food. Iโ€™ve cooked everything myself, especially for Lucian since I heard heโ€™s been having stomach troubles. Iโ€™ve made a special chicken soup, similar to what Lemira used to make.โ€

Struggling to her feet, Evelina carefully handed the soup to Lucian. โ€œLucian, I heard about your stomach issues. This took me a while to get right, trying to match Lemiraโ€™s recipe as closely as I could. Please, try it.โ€

Initially reluctant, Lucianโ€™s curiosity got the better of him after seeing Evelinaโ€™s condition and remembering Lemiraโ€™s soup he hadnโ€™t tasted in ages. Taking a sip, he found it surprisingly similar.

โ€œHow is it?โ€ Evelina asked timidly.

โ€œItโ€™s okay, not quite Lemiraโ€™s, but itโ€™s a decent attempt,โ€ Lucian admitted, his tone softening.

โ€œI know it canโ€™t compare, but I wanted to make amends somehow,โ€ Evelina said, her voice strained with pain.

Lucian, a bit moved by her effort, advised, โ€œThen go make things right with Lemmy. Cut out those old tricks, or youโ€™ll find yourself unwelcome in the Langston family.โ€

โ€œI understand. This is all on me, not Caspian,โ€ Evelina took all the blame upon herself.

Chapter 458

Hearing this, Caspianโ€™s mood improved slightly. โ€œAt least youโ€™re aware. You, a chauffeurโ€™s daughter, have been living like a princess among the Langstons. We owe you nothing. If you pull any more stunts, Iโ€™ll have you thrown out of the Langston family!โ€
