Chapter 482
โLemira, what on earth are you babbling about? My dadโs been gone for years.โ Evelinaโs voice cracked with fear. Could it be that the Langston family had uncovered something? She had always believed herself safe, especially since she wouldnโt have known her father was still alive if he hadnโt contacted her directly. So, if she was in the dark, the Langstons had to be clueless too. But, to her dismay, she found out Asher had been secretly investigating the car accident from years ago, sending shivers down her spine.
Had Asher discovered anything? Who had hacked her phone a few days ago, Lemira or Asher?
Lemira looked at Evelina with a smirk, her pale face amusing her. โEven you would fear, huh? Hidden for so many years, yet you never thought the Langstons were still on the case!โ
Asher frowned. โLemira, Eveโs dad is gone. He couldnโt possibly be a suspect.โ
โIf there was something fishy about the accident, whoโs to say the dead arenโt walking?โ Lemira shot back, her gaze fixed on Evelina. โWhat do you say?โ
โMy dadโs dead, Lemmy. Bringing this up is just cruel. If my dad could survive that, then so could your parents.โ Evelinaโs mind raced. She had to stand firm on her fatherโs death. The Langstons only had suspicions, no proof.
Tears welled up in Evelinaโs eyes as she choked up, looking at Asher. โAsher, Lemmy can say whatever she wants about me, but she should never bring up my late father.โ
Seeing Evelina cry softened Asherโs heart. He scolded Lemira, โThatโs crossing the line, even targeting someone whoโs passed away.โ
Lemira scoffed at the absurdity. Evelinaโs father wasnโt dead.
โLemmy, you keep mentioning my deceased father. Do you think he might still be alive? I wish he was more than you do.โ Evelinaโs words were probing.
Lemira stared coldly. โI do suspect it. And why does that make you nervous?โ
โIโm not nervous, just think your theory is far-fetched. You lost your parents; I lost my father. You of all people should understand how I feel.โ Evelina feigned a strong front but inwardly sighed in relief. Lemiraโs suspicion seemed a mere coincidence. Had Lemira seen the conversations with her father when hacking her phone, she would have mentioned it. Lemiraโs silence proved she had no evidence, no discovery.
Then, Debby approached Lemira. โFound it. It was Mrs. Waverly who tipped off the media to leave.โ
The Waverlies? Lemira remembered the Langstons had no ties with the Waverlies in her past life.
Asherโs lips curved into a cold smirk. โLemira, hope you realize Iโve been holding back. Keep this up, and see if I wonโt make you regret it.โ
Chills ran down Lemiraโs spine.
Chapter 482
โYour rush to silence me, Asher, it reeks of fear.โ
โLemira, letโs see how long you can keep that sharp tongue. I could crush you with a flick of my wrist!โ With that, Asher stormed off.
Evelina lagged behind, taunting Lemira, โWant to know about Asherโs ties with the Waverlies?โ
โIโll find out myself.โ
Evelina flaunted her figure-hugging designer dress, smugly saying, โBeg me, and maybe Iโll tell you.โ
In your dreams.
Lemira glanced at Evelinaโs approaching figure, swiftly plucking out the padding from her dress.
