Chapter 482

โ€œLemira, what on earth are you babbling about? My dadโ€™s been gone for years.โ€ Evelinaโ€™s voice cracked with fear. Could it be that the Langston family had uncovered something? She had always believed herself safe, especially since she wouldnโ€™t have known her father was still alive if he hadnโ€™t contacted her directly. So, if she was in the dark, the Langstons had to be clueless too. But, to her dismay, she found out Asher had been secretly investigating the car accident from years ago, sending shivers down her spine.

Had Asher discovered anything? Who had hacked her phone a few days ago, Lemira or Asher?

Lemira looked at Evelina with a smirk, her pale face amusing her. โ€œEven you would fear, huh? Hidden for so many years, yet you never thought the Langstons were still on the case!โ€

Asher frowned. โ€œLemira, Eveโ€™s dad is gone. He couldnโ€™t possibly be a suspect.โ€

โ€œIf there was something fishy about the accident, whoโ€™s to say the dead arenโ€™t walking?โ€ Lemira shot back, her gaze fixed on Evelina. โ€œWhat do you say?โ€

โ€œMy dadโ€™s dead, Lemmy. Bringing this up is just cruel. If my dad could survive that, then so could your parents.โ€ Evelinaโ€™s mind raced. She had to stand firm on her fatherโ€™s death. The Langstons only had suspicions, no proof.

Tears welled up in Evelinaโ€™s eyes as she choked up, looking at Asher. โ€œAsher, Lemmy can say whatever she wants about me, but she should never bring up my late father.โ€

Seeing Evelina cry softened Asherโ€™s heart. He scolded Lemira, โ€œThatโ€™s crossing the line, even targeting someone whoโ€™s passed away.โ€

Lemira scoffed at the absurdity. Evelinaโ€™s father wasnโ€™t dead.

โ€œLemmy, you keep mentioning my deceased father. Do you think he might still be alive? I wish he was more than you do.โ€ Evelinaโ€™s words were probing.

Lemira stared coldly. โ€œI do suspect it. And why does that make you nervous?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not nervous, just think your theory is far-fetched. You lost your parents; I lost my father. You of all people should understand how I feel.โ€ Evelina feigned a strong front but inwardly sighed in relief. Lemiraโ€™s suspicion seemed a mere coincidence. Had Lemira seen the conversations with her father when hacking her phone, she would have mentioned it. Lemiraโ€™s silence proved she had no evidence, no discovery.

Then, Debby approached Lemira. โ€œFound it. It was Mrs. Waverly who tipped off the media to leave.โ€

The Waverlies? Lemira remembered the Langstons had no ties with the Waverlies in her past life.

Asherโ€™s lips curved into a cold smirk. โ€œLemira, hope you realize Iโ€™ve been holding back. Keep this up, and see if I wonโ€™t make you regret it.โ€

Chills ran down Lemiraโ€™s spine.

Chapter 482

โ€œYour rush to silence me, Asher, it reeks of fear.โ€

โ€œLemira, letโ€™s see how long you can keep that sharp tongue. I could crush you with a flick of my wrist!โ€ With that, Asher stormed off.

Evelina lagged behind, taunting Lemira, โ€œWant to know about Asherโ€™s ties with the Waverlies?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll find out myself.โ€

Evelina flaunted her figure-hugging designer dress, smugly saying, โ€œBeg me, and maybe Iโ€™ll tell you.โ€

In your dreams.

Lemira glanced at Evelinaโ€™s approaching figure, swiftly plucking out the padding from her dress.
