Chapter 502
The next day, after class, Lemira headed back to her dorm to change and picked out a short skirt. It was just the right length to cover the scar on her leg from that car accident years ago.
Janice, her roommate, chuckled, โHey, Captain, got a date or something? Youโre rocking the skirt today!โ
โWhat do you think of this one?โ
โItโs gorgeous. Your legs are so long and straight, Iโm seriously jealous.โ
Realizing she might have hit a sensitive spot, Janice quickly changed the subject. Lemira grabbed her bag and headed downstairs. On the way, she noticed someone had spilled takeout on the stairs, making them dangerously slippery.
Thinking quickly, she texted Janice, [Hey, tell the others to avoid the stairs near our hall. Thereโs a spill, and itโs slick.]
Janice glanced at the photo Lemira sent and looked over at her new roommate, who was busy at her computer. โIf you head out later, donโt use those stairs. Lemira said someone made a mess and didnโt clean it up.โ
The new roommate blinked in surprise, then nodded, โThanks for the heads up.โ
Janice didnโt push any further. The new girl was quiet, and they all coexisted peacefully enough.
Meanwhile, Lemira headed straight to the gym, not bothering to change out of her skirt. She went directly to the boxing area, where she spotted Orion leaning against the ring, engrossed in his phone.
Sneaking up behind him, Lemira attempted to surprise him, but the second her hands touched his eyes, she found herself pinned down. His reflexes were lightning-fast.
She blinked up at him, โItโs just me.โ
Orion chuckled, pulling her to sit on the edge of the ring, his arms bracing on either side of her as he leaned in. โYour ambush was a bit slow.โ
โSlow? No way, your reflexes are just insanely quick. Youโre always on high alert!โ
She was genuinely surprised at how perceptive he could be. Their eyes locked, and Lemira found herself captivated by his handsome face, her heart doing little flips.
Orionโs gaze was intense and dark as he gently brushed his lips against hers. Lemira, feeling a rush of nerves, responded to his kiss.
His body tensed for a moment before his hand cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss. Lemiraโs hands clutched together, and then she wrapped her arms around his waist, feeling a surge of joy. This was the man she adored.
The setting sun streamed through the windows, intertwining their shadows on the floor as if they were one. Lemiraโs breath was uneven, her ears buzzing, lost in the moment and oblivious to the world outside.
After a while, Orion pulled back, his breathing heavy. With a subtle look, he wiped the moisture from her pink lips and said, his voice hoarse, โGo change.โ
Lemiraโs cheeks flushed, and she nodded, looking down. Orionโs eyes fell to her legs, where her skirt had ridden up slightly, revealing the scar from her accident.
The sight pained him, bringing him back to reality. Controlling his emotions, he tugged her skirt back down. โMaybe donโt wear skirts this short.โ
โIs it really that short?โ
โYeah, I think it is. I donโt want anyone else seeing.โ
He lifted her down, and Lemira adjusted her skirt. โAlright, I wonโt wear it anymore.โ
โAre you silly?โ He flicked her forehead gently. โWear what you want. I might get jealous, but I can handle keeping unwanted eyes away.โ
She could enjoy her freedom, and heโd handle any trouble that came with it.
With a blush, Lemira dashed off to the changing room, but on the way, she bumped into a familiar faceโSusannaโs sister.
Lemira halted. โFancy seeing you here, Ms. Sinclair! Here for a workout too?โ
Something felt off, though. Why would a Sinclair, known for their elite status, be at the little gym across from campus?
Sophia managed a tight smile. โIโm here looking for someone.โ
Lemiraโs curiosity piqued. Who could be important enough for Ms. Sinclair to come searching personally?
