Chapter 504

โ€œEven if youโ€™re here, it might not make much of a difference. The Waverlies hold a formidable position in the media industry, and theyโ€™re not easy to challenge,โ€ Lemira said, her voice laced with caution.

Orion listened thoughtfully before responding, โ€œLemmy, you really donโ€™t need to be so cautious.โ€

โ€œThis is Orvin, after all. Sometimes you have no choice but to bow your head,โ€ Lemira replied, her eyes serious as they met his. โ€œBut returning to the Langston family isnโ€™t just about the inheritance my parents left me. Thereโ€™s another significant reason.โ€

โ€œWhat is it?โ€

She hesitated for a moment before speaking. โ€œI discovered thereโ€™s more to the car accident back then.โ€

Orionโ€™s heart skipped a beat, and it took him a moment to find his voice. โ€œWhat did you find out?โ€

Had she discovered his secret? In that moment, he felt like a prisoner awaiting a verdict.

โ€œI found out Evelinaโ€™s father isnโ€™t dead,โ€ Lemira revealed.

Orion was taken aback. โ€œWasnโ€™t her father your parentsโ€™ driver? He supposedly died in that explosion.โ€

He had been there, witnessing the tragic scene where the driver returned to the car moments before it exploded. Under those circumstances, survival seemed impossible.

Lemira nodded. โ€œThatโ€™s what Iโ€™ve always believed, too. But recently, I had the TG Groupโ€™s PR Team keep an eye on Evelina, and they captured her meeting with a middle-aged man.โ€

โ€œAre you sure the man in the photo is Evelinaโ€™s father?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m certain. I wouldnโ€™t mistake him.โ€

Initially, Lemira had doubted herself, but upon reflection, she knew it was indeed Evelinaโ€™s father.

Orion was astonished. He couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œThen who was driving that day? The driver must have died, but whether it was Evelinaโ€™s father is uncertain, right?โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s right. I even tested my brothers about it, and they all said they saw Evelinaโ€™s father driving before they left.โ€

โ€œMaybe there was a switch along the way?โ€

Lemira nodded. โ€œIโ€™ve considered that possibility, but my parents are gone, and I canโ€™t remember the details of that day. Thereโ€™s no evidence to support my theory.โ€

โ€œEvelinaโ€™s father only appeared once, and since then, Iโ€™ve found no trace of him.โ€

โ€œEven the TG Group couldnโ€™t find anything?โ€ Orion asked.

โ€œNo, they couldnโ€™t. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™ve decided to return to the Langston family for now. Only by cornering Evelina like last time can we force the people behind her to reveal themselves.โ€

Orion pondered this. โ€œWhen I investigated the car crash, I found no connection to the Sinclair family, even though they seemed the most likely suspects. But if we consider your theory, it might have been orchestrated by Evelinaโ€™s father.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re right, Iโ€™d almost forgotten about that. Starting with the driver might lead us to something,โ€ Lemira agreed.

Orion gently touched her head. โ€œItโ€™s just a theory, though. Itโ€™s been years, and it might take some time.โ€

โ€œI know, but the accident wasnโ€™t simple. Asher said the driver was linked to the Sinclair family, and there was someone else in the car.โ€

Orionโ€™s lips tightened as he lost the ability to speak, his fingers trembling slightly.

Finally, he managed to ask, โ€œWhat do you plan to do once you find that person?โ€

โ€œI want to ask them why they were in such a hurry that day, why they had to run the yellow light,โ€ Lemira said, her emotions flaring. โ€œIf they hadnโ€™t run the light, the accident wouldnโ€™t have happened.โ€ Her eyes burned with fierce determination. โ€œI want them to pay for what they did!โ€
