Chapter 86

At that moment, Alaric arrived. "Lucian, exams are finished, right? I made reservations at a restaurant; we'll have a celebratory meal together."

Evelina nodded. "Sure, let's go."

But Alaric glanced around. "Where's Lemira? She's not here yet?"

Evelina, concealing her impatience with a smile, replied, "Lemira left a while ago with the school doctor. I don't know where he got all those sports cars, but they certainly made an exit."

Alaric's expression darkened. "Lucian, why didn't you stop her? Exams are over; we can't let Lemira run wild."

Lucian felt uneasy. "Yes, exams are finished." He wondered if Lemira's statement about looking forward meant she planned not to return to the Langston family.

Alaric had hesitated before coming, but he missed Lemira. Lucian, however, couldn't quite accept it and turned, saying, "Something came up at my company. I need to leave first. You guys go ahead." He glanced at the flowers he held and handed them to Evelina. "Made a bit of a mix-up today. Also, congratulations on your exam success." Heโ€™d intended the flowers for Lemira, not Evelina.

Forced to accept the flowers, Evelina feigned graciousness. "Thank you, Lucian. Growing up with you has been more than I ever dreamed. After college, I'll move out so Lemira and you won't be at odds. I understand that."

Alaric immediately exclaimed, "Eve, what are you talking about? You're adopted by us. You're our sister, and we're a family! We'll sort things out with Lemira; it has nothing to do with you."

Evelina looked down, her demeanor fragile.

Lucian finally spoke. "Alaric's right. Stay in the Langston house without worry." He felt awkward leaving; he'd actually considered Evelina's suggestion, but it seemed unfair. She hadn't done anything wrong. There had to be another way to reconcile with Lemira; they were family, bound by blood!

Meanwhile, Lemira sat in the passenger seat of a red sports car, her hand outstretched, feeling exhilarated. Orion's car stopped at a traffic light. "Message me after the reunion."

"I plan to go straight back to the Langston mansion," Lemira replied. Her gaze was calm. "It's time to settle things once and for all." Her plan had always been to leave after exams; she couldn't bear staying another moment.

"What's your plan?" Orion asked.

Lemira smiled. "Make a scene and leave, so they'll never haunt me again."

Orion, his hand resting on the steering wheel, realized Lemira wasn't as weak as he'd thought. Her tolerance of the Langstons was simply to avoid disrupting her exams. She was smart, but they misunderstood, thinking her merely temperamental.

Orion dropped her off at the restaurant. Lemira joined the graduation reunion, enjoying the lively atmosphere, marking the end of past regrets. After the meal, she took a cab back to the Langston mansion.

The butler was shocked to see her. "Ms. Langston, why are you back?"

"This is the Langston house; isn't my return normal?" Lemira retorted, her tone sharper than usual, and headed to her room. However, she found Evelina's belongings there!

The butler explained, "Ms. Sterling's room had a leak two nights ago, so she temporarily moved to your room. Mr. Lucian Langston said it wouldn't be a problem since you're both girls."

Lemira slowly looked up, her gaze cold. She proceeded to throw Evelina's used bed linens and personal items into the hallway.

The butler was shocked and angry. "Ms. Langston, how could you do this!"
