Listen to this chapter:

Megan took a few hesitant steps toward him, her face flushed from the cold. “Zay–Zay, actually, it wasn’t me who took care of you that day.” Zayn was taken aback. He hadn’t expected her to come clean about it herself. He raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you say it was you before?” Megan’s eyes welled up with tears. “That day, I wanted to come, but the dorm supervisor refused to open the door for me. So I only came the next morning after 6:00 a.m.” Megan lowered her gaze, paused, and then shook her head. “No, I was waiting by the door the whole time. But I didn’t see her leave. Zay–Zay, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” Her voice cracked as she spoke, and soon, tears began to fall. Zayn studied the fragile, pitiful figure standing before him. He sighed and gently placed a hand on her head. “Alright, enough of the tears.” Megan looked up at him, her face still flushed from the cold. “Zay–Zay, are you not mad at me anymore?” Zayn wiped the tears from her eyes with a soft touch. Megan’s face was chilly, which showed just how long she had been waiting outside. What was there to be angry about? She was just a little too fond of him. He shook his head. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Come on. Let’s go inside.” He gently took her hand and led her into the villa. Once inside, Zayn noticed the pink box still clutched in Megan’s hands. “What’s this?” he asked, pointing to it. Megan seemed to remember and hurriedly explained. “It’s dinner I made for you. It’s light, just the way you like it.” She quickly set it down on the table and opened the box. Zayn stepped closer and heard the slight disappointment in her voice. “It’s cold now. I was trying to keep it warm in my arms.” “When did you… come?” “Around 6:00 p.m. The thermos isn’t very good, but when my allowance comes in next month, I’ll get a better one.” Before she could finish, Zayn suddenly pulled her into his embrace. Megan rested her head on his chest, a smile forming on her face despite the confusion in her eyes. “Zay–Zay, what’s wrong?” Zayn let go of her, his expression softening. “How could you be so silly? Waiting out here for hours and not even calling me?” “I made a mistake before, so I thought I’d come to apologize and surprise you a little.” She flashed him a bright, innocent smile, and Zayn couldn’t help but soften. He reached out and ruffled her hair. “Silly girl, don’t do this again, I’d hate to see you hurt.” “But I want to cook for you, and I want you to come home every day to the meals I make.” Zayn smiled gently. “You’re still in school. Your studies should come first.” Megan’s eyes lit up with mischief. “So, does that mean I can come over on weekends?” She paused as if a thought had just occurred to her. “You’ll be home on weekends, right? I’m worried I’ll come and you won’t be here.” “Register your fingerprint, so you can come whenever you want.” As Zayn spoke, Megan stretched out her arms and hugged him tightly. She rubbed her cheek against his chest. “Thank you, Zay–Zay. I love you.” “You’re really silly,” he said, his tone full of affection. Megan giggled and stood on tiptoe to kiss his cheek. Her face flushed, and she whispered, “So, Zay–Zay, can I stay over tonight?” Chapter 45 The next day, she assumed Zayn must have gone to the office, so she took a cab to his villa while keeping an eye on the time. As she opened the door and was about to remove her shoes, she noticed a pair of pink snow boots by the entrance. Before she could react, a familiar female voice drifted from the bedroom, “Don’t be this…” “You little hypocrite.”
