When she met his cold, murderous glare, she shrank back in fright and trembled. Then, she began sobbing softly.
Blaine sighed and shook his head helplessly. He walked over to Lucian and began to reason with him earnestly, “Why are you so impulsive, Lucian?”
Lucian’s expression was still gloomy. He didn’t reply and peeled off his expensive jacket before tossing it into the nearby trash can as though it were garbage. Then, he strode toward the parking lot.
Blaine took one glance at the jacket and silently lamented its loss. It was such an expensive piece of clothing, thrown away just like that. What a waste.
He turned back to Megan and said helplessly, “Luce has OCD. You’d better steer clear of him in the future.”
With that, he quickly followed Lucian.
When Lucien got into the car, a biting chill washed over Julie like a relentless wave. To be honest, watching his earlier display of violence toward Megan left her a little shaken.
She’d never imagined Lucian to have such a fiery and explosive side.
As a result, she sat silently throughout the entire ride and barely dared make a sound.
Lucian glanced sideways at her, who was huddled close to the door, frightened. He frowned and warned, “You’re going to fall out of the car if you move any further.”
Julie felt slightly awkward. She cautiously shifted a little closer to him but kept silent.
After a moment, he spoke again. “Were you frightened?”
She shook her head and softly asked, “Lucian, why did you beat her up?”
Lucian snorted and replied practically through gritted teeth, “She was trying to seduce me, so she deserved it.”
Julie was rendered speechless. So that was why Megan got thrown over his shoulder?
She couldn’t help but be grateful that when she’d declared herself his girlfriend five years ago, he hadn’t lashed out at her in the same way.
As if reading her thoughts, Lucian said, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to beat you.”
Julie remained silent. What kind of statement was that? What did he mean by not giving her a beating?
She muttered under her breath, “It’s not like I’m trying to seduce you.”
Lucian turned his head and locked his sharp glare on her. “What did you say? Say it louder!”
Julie cowered away and chose not to utter another word.
Half an hour later, the car slowly pulled into the underground parking lot of Julie’s new rental apartment. The dimly lit garage was littered with scattered garbage.
She frowned and was clearly dissatisfied with the environment. “Why are you living here?”
Julie honestly replied without hesitation, “It’s cheap. And thank you so much for helping me move today.”
With that, she got out of the car and stood at attention like a soldier awaiting orders as she waited for Blaine to open the trunk.
She’d thought they’d leave after helping her unload her belongings. But after everything was taken out, they both stood there and stared at her.
Seeing her remain silent, Lucian couldn’t hold back any longer and asked, “What floor are you on?”
