Chapter 64
With that, Amara doctored Julie's drink and ignored Talan.
Talan stood frozen. "Fuck," he muttered.
He cursed himself for being nosy and informing Zayn that Julie was there. He only realized then she wasn't even there for Zayn. How was he supposed to explain this?
He hurriedly caught up and forced a smile. "Julie, just come in and say hi to Zayn. Otherwise, I'm going to be in a tough spot."
Julie coldly responded, "That's none of my business."
Talan watched helplessly as they walked off. Defeated, he sighed and reentered the VIP room.
Zayn looked up, confused he was back alone. "Why are you by yourself? Where is she?"
Talan scratched his head and awkwardly replied, "She's not coming."
Zayn frowned. "What do you mean she's not coming?"
Talan desperately searched for an excuse. "Maybe she's just shy."
"You called her, didn't you?"
Talan nodded. "I did, but she left."
Zachary could barely suppress a scoff. It seems she isn't here to beg for reconciliation, is she?
Already fuming, Zayn snapped at that remark. He abruptly got up and slammed his glass on the ground. "You've got guts, Julie! Let's see if you can go your whole life without showing up in front of me again!"
Zachary remained unfazed and raised his eyebrows casually. Glancing at his watch, he lazily remarked, "It's getting late, and my mom's nagging me to go home. You all enjoy yourselves. I'm heading out."
Without waiting for Zayn's response, he got up and strode out.
As he reached the bar's exit, he spotted Julie and Amara at the entrance. He smoothly pulled up in front of them and rolled down the window.
Leaning slightly out, he greeted Julie with a warm smile. "What a coincidence. Fancy seeing you here."
Amara blinked in surprise. "Mr. Quinn, what are you doing here this late?"
Still smiling, Zachary warmly replied, "Just out for a drive. Where are you two headed? Hop in, and I'll give you a ride."
Amara leaned closer and sniffed the air suspiciously. "You didn't drink, did you?"
"Of course not. Don't worry," Zachary reassured her with a gentle laugh.
Hearing that, Amara relaxed and dragged Julie into the back seat. Then, she gave Julie's address.
Once on the road, Zachary focused on driving and occasionally glanced at Julie through the rearview mirror. He casually asked, "What brings you two here so late?"
Mentioning the reason reignited Amara's anger. "What do you think? We came to deal with a jerk!"
Zachary raised an eyebrow and smiled. "That boyfriend of yours?"
Amara seemed surprised. "How did you know?"
"It was obvious from the way he looked. Breaking up with him was just a matter of time."
Amara furiously exclaimed, "That jerk took my money and spent it on wooing some younger woman! What a piece of trash!"
"So, you came to settle the score with him?"
"Of course! Why else would anyone come to the nightclub at this hour?"
Zachary said nothing, but his eyes sparkled with amusement.
