Chapter 79

Amaya nodded indifferently. “That’s tight.”

Amahalihe suddenly seemed to laugh in the face of his question.

In the end, she still could not help but sneer. “There you go, ignoring that we’ve broken up?”

Christian’s breath caught in his throat, and he looked at her like a lost puppy. “I… I’m sorry, Anura.”

Amaya hummed disinterestedly, saving her breath.

Christian did not expect her to behave with such detachment. It was completely different from what he had imagined.

Unwilling to give up, he asked, “Is this how you’re going to act?”

“Tell me, then. How should I be acting?” Amaya fired back.

Christian frowned, his eyes reddening further.

Amaya abruptly looked at him with surprised joy and exclaimed excitedly, “So, you want to reconcile with…”

Christian’s eyes lit up at that, but before he could even get a word out, he saw Amaya’s expression cool instantly.

She sighed heavily. “Were you satisfied with that reaction just now? Was that how you felt I should have reacted?”

Christian stared dumbly at her.

He suddenly felt as if he did not know the woman in front of him at all.

Back then, it was true that he had been the first to fall in love. However, during the time that they were together, Amaya showered him with plenty of love. That was why he found it a little hard to accept how coldly she was treating him now that they had broken up.

Seeing as he was still too stunned to speak, Amaya continued, “If there’s nothing else, please leave.”

With that, she turned to return to the studio. However, before she had taken more than a couple of steps, he grabbed her wrist.

“Please wait a moment,” Christian called out.

Amaya glanced down to see the hand holding onto her wrist and shook it off gently.

She gazed wordlessly at Christian.

Christian was at a loss. He also stammered when he spoke, struggling to form proper sentences:

“L–Let’s get back together, Amaya. B–Being apart from you… I’m really not used to it.”

Amaya sneered. “We haven’t even been together for that long, and you’re already missing being apart?”

Christian felt quite awkward at that. He opened his mouth, trying to explain himself, but Amaya gave him no such chance.

“We’ve already broken up, Christian,” she stated calmly. “I’m the kind of person who hates going back on my decisions, so you can stop wasting your time with me as well.”

Christian shook his head desperately.

Amaya reached out to pat him on the shoulder, saying with heartfelt sincerity, “Please leave. Don’t make me say more hurtful words.”

“That’s not it,” Christian said pleadingly. “That day, I–I had too much to drink. I really do like you!”

Amaya’s lips curved up into a wry smile, clearly not believing him.

She opened her mouth to say something else, but the elevator doors slid open just then, and several people wearing uniforms stepped out with flower baskets in their hands. She subconsciously stepped aside to let them through.

She watched as the person in front approached her and asked, “Are you Ms. Somers?”

She nodded despite her confusion.

“Mr. Fuller ordered these flower baskets. Where should we put them?”

Amaya was rather shocked at that, but she still directed the people to place the flower baskets by the studio entrance.

By the time Julie came outside, having heard the commotion, the corridor was already filled with more than a dozen flower baskets.

“Who sent these?” she asked in bewilderment.

“Who?” Amaya countered in amusement. “They’re from none other than Mr. Fuller.”

Julie was quite stunned.

She took out her phone but did not see any messages from Lucian.

Was it because he had gone to order flower baskets?

Her lips curved up into a faint smile.

Just as she was about to call Lucian, she received a call from him. He had beaten her to it.

She pressed the call button without really thinking.

Before she could say anything, Lucian’s amused voice carried through the receiver. “For you to pick up so fast, were you waiting for my call, little Miss Somers?”

Julie paused, an imperceptible blush appearing on her face.

She walked to a more secluded area before retorting quietly, “I am not.”
