Chapter 99
Following Hal’s words, everyone else began to make a ruckus. Julie was quite confused, especially after she saw Lester’s red cheeks. Lester scrunched his nose in feigned disdain. “Haha. Very funny. Luce told me to take care of Jules, but all you care about is eating.” He smiled at Julie and said, “Take a look through the menu, Jules. What do you want to eat?” Julie waved him off. “I’m not hungry. You guys just order what you like.” “That won’t do. Don’t be shy!” cajoled Lester. Julie continued to wave him off. She had taken a glance at the menu just now. It had all been seafood. She was allergic to seafood and could not eat it at all. Lester took his phone back from her. “Forget it. I’ll just order for you then. Their soft-shelled crab tastes amazing…” Before he could finish his sentence, Lucian’s voice drifted over to them. “She’s allergic to seafood, Les, so don’t make random orders for her. Just order her some smoked beef brisket.” A flash of surprise crossed Lester’s face at Lucian’s words, and he turned to look at Julie, asking, “You’re allergic to seafood? Why didn’t you say so earlier? It’s a good thing Luce told me.” It wasn’t just Lester who was surprised; even Julie was slightly startled to hear what Lucian said. How did he know that she was allergic to seafood? She did not think that she had ever mentioned it to him. Lester clicked his tongue and whispered to her, “See that? Luce cares for you greatly.” A blush immediately rose to her face, and she whispered back in embarrassment, “You stop spouting nonsense!” Lester shrugged, disagreeing with her as he said, “It’s so obvious though!” For a moment, Julie was at a loss for words. Fortunately, Blaine walked in through the door of the VIP room right then. This attracted Lester’s attention, and the conversation ended there. When Blaine saw Julie, a playful smile appeared on his face. “Long time no see, Juju. Did you miss me?” As he spoke, he headed directly for Julie and sat down next to her on the couch. Julie was still not quite used to Blaine’s usual frivolous attitude. She smiled at him rather awkwardly and replied honestly, “No, I didn’t.” Hearing this, Blaine clutched at his chest in feigned sadness, looking plaintively at her. “As expected, you’ve forgotten all about little old me now that you’ve gotten yourself a boyfriend. You’re truly such a pragmatist, valuing your lover over your older brother in all but blood.” Julie rushed to explain herself, “What boyfriend are you talking about? Stop talking nonsense. I don’t have a boyfriend yet.” Her words momentarily stunned Blaine, who then turned his gaze to a certain someone at the poker table before saying, “I say, Luce, aren’t you being far too slow here? It’s been so long, but Juju hasn’t become your girlfriend yet?” Lucian lifted his head and glared vehemently at him, uttering a single word, “Scram!” Blaine completely ignored him. He continued to smile cheerily at Julie as he said cajolingly, “Don’t pay that fellow any mind, Juju. Let him remain a bachelor for the rest of his life.” Julie smiled stiffly at him, unsure how to respond. “What does whether he remains a bachelor or not have to do with me?” Blaine arched an eyebrow at her, behaving as if his question had been perfectly logical. “Why would you think it doesn’t have anything to do with you? It very much has something to do with you.” Julie pursed her lips, saying nothing.
