Aurora peeked out from behind Clifford, her expression a mixture of shock, joy, and confusion. She thought, "So, Yvette is actually my dream daughter-in-law. She's Jeremiah's girlfriend?"

Her mind raced. She and Jeremiah, she realized, possessed remarkably similar taste; they'd both chosen the same wonderful woman.

Clifford pulled Aurora into view. "You're going to be a mother-in-law," he thought. "Stop acting so childish. Quit hiding."

Without Clifford's shield, Aurora felt uneasy. She glared at him, then at Yvette. She'd promised to be a gentle, charming mother-in-law, but her earlier outburst had betrayed her composure.

Regret overwhelmed her. With a flustered expression, she blurted out a lie she didn't believe: "Actually, you saw a hallucination. You're sleepwalking. Do you believe me?"

Jeremiah and Clifford were speechless.

Aurora stared blankly at Yvette, momentarily consideringโ€”then dismissingโ€”the idea of knocking her unconscious. Her usual air of powerful command evaporated, replaced by utter dejection.

Yvette slowly raised her eyes, her gaze calm, her expression neutral. "You were pretty cool just now."

Those few words instantly lifted Aurora's spirits. Delighted by Yvette's compliment, she declared, "Yvette, you think I'm cool? Let me tell you, I wasn't even trying! If I'd shown you my killer moves from my younger days, you'd have been impressed ages ago. I even trained under an old monk, but don't tell anyoneโ€”I'm very humble about it."

This unexpected boast surprised Clifford and Jeremiah. They were accustomed to Aurora's unpredictable whimsโ€”a long and arduous journey, to say the least. Clifford, especially, was quite used to it.

Aurora patted her chest, adding, "Don't worry. If there's ever a fight, just call me. I've got your back. With those thin arms and legs, you're probably not cut out for fighting, but it's okay. We're family, right? I'll step in, you stay behind me." She exuded an air of protective leadership.

Yvette, though sensing Aurora's claims of martial arts expertise were dubious, didn't call her out, simply nodding, "Okay."

Aurora found Yvette both adorable and well-behaved, her heart melting at the younger woman's charm.

Jeremiah, however, could barely watch. Had Aurora ever witnessed Yvette wrestle a crocodile barehanded, she wouldn't dare speak as she did.

Clifford, observing Aurora's mercurial mood swingsโ€”one moment ecstatic, the next despondentโ€”sighed helplessly.

Despite being in her fifties, Aurora still thrived on praise. And the old monk story? Years ago, the man had taught her a few techniques, but her lack of aptitude so frustrated him that he retreated to a monastery, never to return.

Jeremiah, stung by a pang of jealousy at Aurora's friendliness toward Yvette, couldn't vent his frustration directly at her. He glared at Clifford instead, resenting that Yvette had stolen Aurora's attention.

Clifford, meanwhile, was stunned. The woman about to become his sister-in-law was Jeremiah's girlfriend. Even his composure was tested by the amusement of Aurora and Jeremiah both falling for Yvette.

Yvette remained cool, her jet-black eyes gleaming like polished onyx.

Jeremiah stepped forward, gently taking her hand. They stood together, a picture of effortless elegance. Their visual appeal was undeniable.

Aurora's eyes lit up at the sight, then clouded. For someone who appreciated appearances, this handsome couple was perfect, yet her displeasure at Yvette's relationship with Jeremiah remained.

Jeremiah, with a serious expression, announced, "Dad, Mom, this is my girlfriend, Yvette. She's going to be my wife and the mother of my children."

Clifford looked at their intertwined hands, the gesture natural and endearing. Though pleased, he maintained a stern facade. "Alright, got it."

His demeanor toward Jeremiah was distant, but softened considerably when addressing Yvette. "Hello, I'm Clifford, Jeremiah's father."

Yvette, with her usual calm, replied, "Hello, I'm Yvette, Jeremiah's girlfriend." The formality of their reintroductions highlighted the shift in their roles.

Clifford was pleased. The Chavez family's daughter-in-law didn't need noble blood, but she needed strength of character. Yvette's calm response during the earlier commotion had secured his approval. He frequently reiterated the family's policy: as long as they were justified, the Chavez family would support them, even amid chaos. He was proud of both Yvette and Jeremiah. The Chavez family protected their own and tolerated no nonsense.

Aurora intervened, smoothly taking Yvette's hand from Jeremiah's, instantly reclaiming his place. Jeremiah, staring at his suddenly empty hand, winced. "Mom, she's my girlfriend."

Aurora nodded confidently. "I know. She's my daughter-in-law."

Jeremiah was once again defeated by her boldness.

Clifford coughed. "Aurora, you're my wife."

Aurora squinted. "I know. Yvette is my daughter-in-law."

Clifford sensed his familial standing was about to plummet.

Ignoring them, Aurora warmly grasped Yvette's hand, placing her cherished safety charm bracelet on Yvette's wrist. She chuckled warmly.

Clifford and Jeremiah were stunned. The charm held immense significance for Aurora.
